@Yakovolf You don’t take marching orders from Jerusalem. The capital of Israel is Jerusalem.

As an American Jew, I'm going to need Netanyahu to stop lecturing us. American Jews do not need a foreign head of government telling us what we need to do. We don't take marching orders from Tel Aviv. Stop speaking for us. Stop patronizing us. Stop using American Jews as tools for your political and regional ambitions. Speak for the Israeli government. Speak for Israeli voters. Do not speak for Jews as a people. Do not speak for the diaspora. Do not treat us as extensions of your agenda. Enough.
Open Source Intel@Osint613

PM Netanyahu: “I ask you Jews of America, Jews of the diaspora, stand up, don’t be afraid, fight back because people will only respect us, if we respect ourselves…”

I was born as a Jew in Jerusalem, educated in the best school the Zionist movement established and lived in occupied Palestine for 42 years. I am a very informed anti-Zionist and know about "the reality of life in Israel" a million times more than this ignorant American
Jonah Platt@JonahPlatt

To be an anti-Israel Jew, you must, by default, be uneducated about what Jews are, what Israel means to Jews, and the reality of life on the ground in Israel. Anyone of any background who is genuinely educated in those three areas cannot possibly be anti-Israel. Just calling a spade a spade.

I admire the Israelis’ understanding of their nation as a particular people and not an economic zone, and they recognize their government exists as the political manifestation of said people. What upsets my generation is that Americans, somehow, are not afforded this type of government.

@GabeGuidarini There's nothing to admire about their hypocrisy, particularly when they've never stopped lying about it, like you can see in a reply here. Keep in mind too that it's not just Israeli Jews but all Jews who support that double standard, the vast majority of which are liberals.

I don’t think people understand the rarefied universe Israelis live in We walked through the valley in the shadow of death and came out the other side Nothing will ever come close to the loneliness and isolation in the aftermath of October 7th and the plausible prospect of being invaded and destroyed on multiple fronts But we put one foot in front of the other and got on with it The sum result? We are now impervious to panic We are bullet proof to hysteria It doesn’t matter who eventually stands with us or does not We will do whatever we need to do to survive and thwart our wicked enemies And we will eat, drink and go to the beach too

OK, I'll say at least one nice thing about Trump's actions regarding Iran over the last few days: When it came down to it, and America's interests diverged from those of Israel, he ignored Israel's interests. The MOU mostly sucks, but showing Israel who's boss does not suck.

Proponents of the theory that 'Israel will leave you alone if you leave it alone' have never been able to explain why Israel is "establish[ing] a permanent foothold and reshap[ing] control in the south of Syria", when Syria hasn't fired a single shot at Israel. A real mystery.
Drop Site@DropSiteNews

🔴 A new analysis from ACLED says Israel’s military construction and expanding network of bases in southern Syria amount to an effort to establish a permanent foothold and reshape control in the south of Syria. 🔹 According to ACLED Middle East Research Manager Muaz Al Abdullah, Israel’s construction of a strategic military road through the Quneitra buffer zone is part of a broader effort to establish a permanent military foothold following the collapse of the Assad government in December 2024. 🔹 ACLED says Israeli forces have established nine military bases and outposts across southwestern Syria, including four outside the former buffer zone, while building military roads, electricity infrastructure and aircraft landing pads. 🔹 In May 2026 alone, ACLED recorded 84 Israeli ground incursions into southern Syria, concentrated in Daraa and Quneitra. 🗣️ “The development of this roadway is a calculated bid to fundamentally redraw the lines of authority and spatial control within the border zone,” Al Abdullah said, stating that parts of the area are being absorbed into Israel’s “direct tactical and administrative sphere.”

I oppose this agreement with every fiber of my being. I believe it is a dangerous capitulation and a strategic disaster. I oppose it because it is bad for America. But to demand that American Jews pressure the President of the United States to make foreign policy decisions based primarily on Israel, as though our political duty is to a foreign state rather than to our own country, is borderline treasonous. Do not tell American Jews that their role is to exert pressure on their own president for the sake of Israel. It is duplicitous, disgraceful, and dangerously close to the very dual-loyalty smear that Jews have spent generations fighting. The President should reject this deal because America must not appease the world’s leading state sponsor of terror. America must not reward hostage-taking, nuclear blackmail, regional aggression, and genocidal threats. America must not abandon its own credibility or its own strategic interests. Not because of Israel or any other foreign nation. American Jews do not owe political obedience to Israel, nor is our patriotism conditional on Israeli needs.

I champion Palestinian statehood because it's the only way to give statehood and citizenship to an effectively stateless population which is living under a brutal military occupation and the only way to solve the Israeil-Palestinian conflict. How can you possibly be any sort of 'liberal' and NOT advocate Palestinian statehood? All decent Israeli liberals have long advocated for the same thing. As for Somaliland, it's a wholly different issue, one of secessionism from a state which recognizes them as citizens. All Somalilanders are entitled to Somali citizenship and many/most of them do actually hold Somali passports. So it has nothing to do with the Palestinian case since Palestinians are not entitled to Israeli citizenship. If you notice I criticized Israel's 'unilateralism' there not just its recognition. In other words, obviously if Israel wants integration into to the region, it would serve it better to work with regional states such as Saudi, Egypt, Ethiopia AND Somalia as opposed to interfering in their internal affairs. It's also obviously not true that Israel is supporting Somalilanders out of some humanitarian or pro-self-determination impulse. No one serious believes that and to believe that it would be an insult to intelligence. (and that's fine Israel needs to center its own national interest in its foreign policy but let's not pretend otherwise)

Israel's recognition of Somaliland, like its support for Kurdish movements in Iraq and elsewhere, puts up alarm signals in all capitals in the region, showing it as a unilateralist, irresponsible actor which will advocate secessionism.

Jordan Peterson made a profound point on Chris Williamson’s podcast. When God dies, a lot of unexpected things die with Him, including science. Science isn’t some purely neutral, secular tool. It rests on deeply religious assumptions: that truth exists, that it’s knowable, that pursuing it is good, and that the universe makes sense. These aren’t scientific claims, they’re metaphysical, rooted in a religious worldview. The universities themselves grew out of monasteries. Without that deeper foundation, science eventually stops being about truth and becomes just another tool for power, ideology, or convenience. You lose the reason to be honest when the data gets inconvenient. Do you think science can survive long-term without any belief in objective truth or a higher moral order?

Uri, you cannot name a single ancestor, on your paternal or maternal side, who was from the entirety of the Near East. Your claim - cultural, ethnic, or whatever - to being "from" the region is based on claims about 2,000 years ago. Sheer lunatic, as a claim to land. The world is tired of this nonsense which also destabilizes the region and causes wars.
Uri Kurlianchik@VerminusM

@History__Speaks "Arab" is whatever you need it to be to attack Jews at the moment. For example, had I said Gazans have the same culture Egyptians so they belong in in Egypt, I'm sure you'd go on a speech on why they are totally different and just happen to speak the same language.

@JacobL1994_ That's still something that would violate international law and the west would never accept. You could argue international law is bullshit, but it won't change the fact of the matter. Israel will likely end up a parish state if they don't find a solution within international law.

The Palestinian borders and identity are 100% European creation. Who's Palestinian, Syrian, Lebanese, or Jordanian is not rooted in history. It's rooted in where a European bureaucrat felt like drawing a line that day. Israel is the only distinct nation in the area.

It's not "glossed over"...if people are accused of stealing some sheep then the police should investigate and bring them back. Having gangs of men go and attack other random people is just lawlessness, and we are supposed to pretend it's normal like it's the 'Wild West' like in the film Tombstone or something...but the West Bank has been ruled by Israel for 59 years...that's plenty of time to have law and order and rule of law. The idea that "well people stole sheep so then other gangs of men have to go attack other random people"...it's just hooliganism and lawlesses. It's why when you travel to Tel Aviv or most places in Israel this isn't what happens, because when people want to know how to do law and order...it's why when one travels to Nebraska or Montana or Pennsylvania...one doesn't have to deal with this. It's solely an excuse for a few areas of the West Bank where law and order has evaporated and it has become like this. There's no reason for it...if one can create Iron Dome and all sorts of AI hi-tech...one can prevent gangs of men from needing to enforce "street justice" over a few sheep...clearly there are the resources to do it. The fact the West Bank is managed this way is utterly bizarre and not in line with the norms, the law and order and the concept of being Western and having western values that Israel proclaims.

On This Day — June 4, 1967 Israel stood completely alone — betrayed by its allies and facing annihilation. France — Israel’s main arms supplier — imposed a total weapons embargo on Israel at the direct order of President Charles de Gaulle. Already, every major Western power, including the United States, had Israel under a weapons embargo. The Israeli Cabinet met in emergency session as massive Arab armies gathered on its borders. Egypt alone had nearly 100,000 troops and 1,000 tanks in Sinai, with Jordan, Syria, and Iraq adding more forces. Arab leaders were openly calling for Israel’s destruction. A cable from U.S. President Lyndon Johnson made the situation brutally clear: “Israel will not be alone unless it decides to go it alone.” Israel got the message. With no strategic depth, vastly outnumbered, and abandoned by its supposed friends, the Cabinet voted 12–2 to launch a preemptive strike on the largest Arab military, Egypt (which had already committed an act of war by closing the Straits of Tiran). The war would begin the next morning. The mood across Israel was somber and resolute. Parks were dug up for mass graves. Schools became bomb shelters. Teenagers filled sandbags. The entire nation understood it faced an existential threat — a potential second Holocaust. Yet on June 5, Israel acted. This was the moment a small, isolated nation chose survival over waiting for the mercy of others. Never forget how alone Israel truly was on the eve of the Six Day War.

I am in contact with a pro-peace group in Gaza that wants to establish dialogue through youth camps for teenagers focused on language learning, critical thinking, culture, film, and connection with the outside world—including Israeli peers who believe in coexistence. The aim is to offer an alternative to extremism by investing in a new generation equipped to build a different future. Pilot: 100 teens, with potential to scale. If you think you can help in any way, get in touch.
