SOS at 13,000+ ft on Mount Williamson, Inyo County. Other agencies attempted the rescue, but extreme altitude and winds forced aborts. Through tight coordination with ground SAR, the Cal Guard’s Spartan 164 crew—LTC Christensen, MAJ Morisoli & SFC Poppick—executed a life-saving hoist at the edge of performance. Your Cal Guard was honored to host leaders from Mexico’s Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (DEFENSA) for the first engagement since California and Mexico entered the State Partnership Program. This cycle, more than 500 cadets graduated statewide. Save #1170 Last night, more than 100 miles off the Big Sur coast, a cruise ship called for help. A 79-year-old passenger was unresponsive and unable to breathe on her own. Weather and conditions were deteriorating.
