The Mrs. Club International has been steadfast in writing petitions almost every single day on behalf of Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, especially to H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana. Our humble plea is simple yet urgent: give this case a listening ear and help bring truth and justice to light. If left unaddressed, this matter risks setting a dangerous precedent - one that could harm the marital institution, mislead the youth, and endanger young and vibrant girls. Ghana is held in high esteem; this situation must not be allowed to cast doubt on the image of Ghana’s Judicial Services or the nation as a whole. This same plea is extended to H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang - a woman of substance and the first female Vice President in Ghana’s history along with the Ghana Peace Council, the clergy and religious leaders, wives of the clergy and religious, Members of Parliament, the Gender Minister and the Gender Ministry. We call on every office and conscience to intervene in any way possible so that justice may prevail and be served for Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh. Justice is not optional. Mr President, On behalf of The Mrs Club, we write with respect to raise concerns that extend beyond one family and now touch on national values of dignity, equality, and social justice. Mr President, this letter also accompanies our ongoing petition, now supported by 24,492 concerned citizens, requesting procedural clarity from the German Embassy in Ghana regarding cross-border civil marriage documentation. In addition, a video currently circulating online shows Jantuah Boateng Dadson speaking on Akoma FM on 12 January 2026, where he is heard stating that “marriage is a privilege for a woman,” and that women who are not “submissive” may “lose their marriage.” In the same broadcast, he is also heard comparing the present situation involving a bereaved spouse to a scenario where a person builds a house, does not live in it for many years, and another person then takes ownership. Mr President, such narratives frame marriage as conditional on women’s silence and equate lifelong marital commitment to property ownership. When these messages are amplified on public platforms, they shape harmful expectations about women’s roles, identity, and dignity, particularly at moments when families are grieving and vulnerable. We respectfully appeal to your leadership, and to the values long associated with the National Democratic Congress, to reaffirm publicly that marriage in Ghana is a partnership grounded in mutual respect, equality, and human dignity. We further encourage guidance that promotes humane and responsible public discourse where bereaved families are concerned. Mr President, this appeal is made in hope — that under your leadership Ghana will continue to stand as a nation that protects families, honours women, and upholds fairness in both law and culture. Es geht um grundlegende Werte unserer Gesellschaft; um Würde, Gleichberechtigung und soziale Gerechtigkeit. Dieses Statement begleitet unsere laufende Petition, die aktuell von 24.492 Bürgerinnen und Bürgern unterstützt wird. Darin fordern wir verfahrensrechtliche Klarheit von der Deutschen Botschaft in Ghana im Umgang mit grenzüberschreitenden zivilrechtlichen Ehedokumenten. Zusätzlich sorgt ein Video für große Besorgnis, in dem Jantuah Boateng Dadson am 12. Januar 2026 in der Radiosendung Akoma FM zu hören ist. In dieser Sendung sagt er unter anderem, Ehe sei ein Privileg für Frauen, und Frauen, die nicht unterwürfig seien, könnten ihre Ehe verlieren. Zudem vergleicht er die Situation einer trauernden Ehefrau mit einem Haus, das jemand gebaut habe, darin aber lange nicht gelebt habe, sodass schließlich eine andere Person Anspruch darauf erhebe. Solche Aussagen stellen Ehe als abhängig vom Schweigen und der Unterordnung von Frauen dar und setzen eine lebenslange Partnerschaft mit bloßem Eigentum gleich. Besonders in Zeiten von Trauer sind solche Darstellungen verletzend und gefährlich. Wir appellieren respektvoll an Ihre Führung und an die Werte des National Democratic Congress, öffentlich zu bekräftigen, dass Ehe in Ghana eine Partnerschaft auf der Grundlage von gegenseitigem Respekt, Gleichberechtigung und menschlicher Würde ist.
