UN Climate Security Mechanism brings together 4️⃣UN entities, 1️⃣0️⃣Climate, Peace & Security Advisors, 7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣+ community of practice members. Supported by Joint Steering Committee, co-chaired by Slovenia & @GermanyUN, it convened the 4th Partnership Dialogue in New York today.

As largest donor, 🇩🇪 has supported the #ClimateSecurityMechanism with 10M USD since 2019 and through Junior Professional Officers. The CSM serves as the global UN hub for climate, peace & security, supporting partners through advisors, advocacy, knowledge & capacity building.

It’s a wrap! First-ever Berlin Climate Security Conference in New York #BCSCNewYork. As the climate crisis is accelerating, its impacts will exacerbate existing instabilities, falling hardest on communities that are already the most vulnerable. 1/3

Germany 🇩🇪 has continuously worked for integrated stabilization in West Africa. Together with our co-chair Algeria 🇩🇿 we held a regional meeting on Countering the Financing of Terrorism as part of the Global Counterterrorism Forum.

Thanks to Pacific SIDS Ambassadors & peacebuilding partners for the exchange on priorities in the blue continent. Challenges & security implications in particular of climate change are distinct, so must be our joint responses. @UNPeacebuilding can provide a support system.

Action on #climate change serves our joint interests. It helps us deliver on security, freedom and prosperity around the world. We need everyone on board. 🇩🇪 State Secretary Kotsch welcomed conference participants to #BCSCNewYork to discuss climate change, peace and security.

This #EarthquakeDay reminds us that earthquakes are among the deadliest natural hazards, shaping lives across generations. That's why the work of @UNDRR remains indispensable. Germany continues to strengthen prevention, preparedness and response to support those affected.

Iran‘s closure of the #StraitOfHormuz has dire economic effects & could trigger a global hunger crisis. @antonioguterres & I agree that we need a diplomatic solution. The @UN must remain a key player in solving international conflicts. 1/2

For the UN to remain credible and effective we also need reforms. Germany fully supports the #UN80 initiative that @antonioguterres has launched in order to modernise the organisation. 2/2
