Paddy Galloway (@PaddyG96) on his "Soon X, First Y" trick for keeping viewers hooked:⁣ ⁣ "A little bit later, I'm going to ask you about this. But first, this."⁣ ⁣ "The key is that your X and your Y both need to be interesting."

Dear @YouTube For the love of god, allow us to add a thumbnails for YouTube Shorts. I know they "don't matter" as much, but most of us creators have OCD. Sincerely, Everyone.

@Ileane This sounds like one of those "call to action' type posts that any YouTube strategist should look into making. Any takers out there?

I got asked to take a quick survey to share my thoughts on YouTube Affiliate Shopping program. Here is one thing I would love to make it better: Can you make a video showing step-by-step all the ways customers can shop (via mobile, desktop and TVs) that we can include in our videos. We can add our own voice over. Thank you!! cc: @teamyoutube @reneritchie

@MarioJoos What is the number one question that you get asked about YouTube strategy? And what is the most common answer?

Let's do an "Ask Me Anything". I'm a Retention Director who worked with some of the biggest YouTube creators. Ask me anything about YouTube strategy for the next 24 hours. I'll answer as many questions as possible!

Today, we’re expanding @YouTube's likeness detection technology to the entertainment industry, with support from talent agencies and management companies like CAA, @unitedtalent, @WME, and Untitled Management. Now, eligible celebrities and entertainers (regardless of whether they have a YouTube channel) can easily request the removal of deepfakes on our platform. We’ll keep building on our foundation of Content ID (a system our partners have trusted for well over a decade) to develop new tools for this new era.

How you should be "testing" your thumbnails on YouTube The biggest mistake creators make is building systems to constantly “test” options instead of building systems to figure out new principles. Let me explain two different approaches: Approach 1: Constant testing You’ve got a problem, you need a new thumbnail for your latest video. So what do you do? You make three versions that you think could work, based on what you already know. But that’s the issue. What you know is limited. It gets you to around 80%. So now you’re testing three thumbnails that are all around 80% good. The A/B test picks a winner, you go with it. Next video, same thing. Repeat the process because it worked. Sounds logical, but this approach is flawed. If the market keeps evolving, you’re stuck recycling the same level of thinking. You’re not expanding what’s possible, you’re just picking the best out of what you already understand. Now compare that to a first principles approach. Approach 2: Testing to learn Here, you’re not just testing to find the best one. You’re testing to understand something. So instead of three similar thumbnails, you keep two at that 80% level, and you use the third to try something different. Not because you think it will win, but because you want to learn. For example, maybe you think text on thumbnails doesn’t work. Test it anyway. If it performs just as well, you’ve just broken a belief. Now you can go deeper, test different emotional angles, and start building actual understanding. The difference is intent. If your intent is to find the best option, you’ll always be chasing results. If your intent is to understand why something works, you start building enough knowledge to predict what will work, without needing to rely on testing every time.

@MarioJoos He changes them all the time. You’d think his algorithms that make thousands of thumbnails would be a bit better by now that he doesn’t change tme so many times AFTER uploading.

DaVinci Resolve 21 is out in public BETA. This is their new "Face Age Transform" feature that allows me to enter my age (59) and tell it how many years I'd like to shave off. I set it to take off - 23 years so this is 59 years old vs. 36 years old. That's pretty crazy! It's like the best skin cream ever 😅 @Blackmagic_News

@polyinnovator Awesome. Good to know. I'm probably mostly interested in meeting with other creators. Both people from in front of, and behind, the camera. Thanks for the info.

I've never been to NAB before. I know it's coming up next week. Is it worth the time? Curious from both a content creator and an AI-enthusiast perspective. If you've gone, what did you get out of it?

@mreflow Haven't done NAB myself, though I can say that the behind-the-scenes conversations that tend to happen in the hotel lobby and the line at Starbucks tend to be some of the deepest conversations I've ever had in my life. Good luck and have fun sir!
