📍Philadelphia Here’s a timelapse of what is by far one of the longest lines I’ve seen this election cycle. Thousands waiting, in the rain, to enter the first Harris-Walz rally. Good chance attendance here will eclipse the 10k that turned out in Atlanta for Harris last week.

This is what I am hearing from so many Black Americans and especially Black women who feel 1) That their vote, decision and concerns are being undermined by non-Black people in the Democratic Party 2) That too many people reporting and commenting do not seem to understand the stakes. 3) That perhaps the polling is reflecting a Democratic Party that is attacking its own candidate rather than the opposing one.

The Democratic establishment styled themselves as the sensible grownups in the room. They crushed Bernie Sanders’ candidacy. And now look at what they’ve achieved. Paved the way for an entirely plausible right wing dictatorship and civil war. Totally unforgivable.

I keep finding articles today which say dismissively that Biden had a bad debate, but, the articles go on to say, so did Obama and others and they were able to recover and win the office. The issue, however, was not that @POTUS Biden had a bad debate. Rather, in just a few minutes, the entire world, including all of our enemies became definitively aware, if they were not already, that the President of the United States is not fit for office, let alone a second term. This is not just an issue of Biden’s fitness for office. It is an issue of national security. We know from the rally the day after the debate that Biden is still capable of reading from a teleprompter. But being president of the United States requires more than reading words written by others. Leadership requires world class executive function, which in Biden’s case is clearly profoundly impaired. If China invades Taiwan tomorrow, how comfortable do you feel with our Commander in Chief? I would not be surprised that the DNC called for an early debate because it was concerned that Biden was deteriorating rapidly and sooner was better than later. It figured that with a friendly moderator, no @RobertKennedyJr, no audience, silenced microphones, and six days of prep at Camp David, he could make it through, or as @FLOTUS Jill Biden explained: ‘Joe you did such a great job! You answered every question!’ Some of a president’s most important decisions must come when he is awakened at 3am when disaster or a threat emerges suddenly. Our enemies will strike when we are most vulnerable. How is this not incredibly frightening? Now explain to me how anyone can continue to support Biden for a second term.

This is really important. Trump keeps representing foreign policy, economic policy, etc., as HIM as an individual, his power of personality, etc. Biden keeps talking about the American people. Trump talks like an autocrat Biden talks like a democrat #Debates2024

@DCLongIslander Always disliked describing something as "not real life" when it is clear it IS part of real life. You can dissect your entire life experience as not real life if you're going to define it in those terms.

Causation problem: A) money hasn’t been predictive in federal elections since 2016. B) did the money cause the winning or did the winning cause the money? In this case, Bowman’s down 17 points when the money starts pouring in. Causation seems to point the other way.

@BenjySarlin that said, having spent a fair amount of time around members of congress, a $14 million dollar money bomb is totally bananas and there's just nothing like it and no candidate anywhere with the ability to deal with it.

Take a look at the billionaires level of support.. When mega billionaires machine kicks in, it represents an investment no greater than I spend on my hobbies. It's chump change in total wealth for billionaires to buy Congress. A fraction of their overall wealth. It's nothing more to centi-billionaires than a novelty, to dabble carelessly in governance. We fail to imagine the magnitude of wealth concentrated in 700 persons.

I can't tell when people give this take if they're pretending not to understand or actually don't understand. Money is not dispositive for outcomes in a given race, absolutely. But what exactly do people think all these superpacs and donors are doing exactly? Candidates spend an INSANE amoint of timing raising money. Maybe literally everyone in politics is wasting their time and lighting billions of dollars on fire? Or maybe money has all kinds of effects on the broad shape of politics that aren't reducible to a question of whether a given candidate wins or loses.

Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman has officially lost the Democratic primary to George Latimer in NY-16 race. With 88% of the vote in, Latimer has clinched the nomination 58.4 to 41.6. It wasn’t even close. This shows that Americans generally want moderate candidates to represent them. Both sides should be electing more moderates in my opinion.

@DietmarPichler1 Assange is an enemy of the US. His operation was not just whistleblowing but an influence operation to demonize and discredit the US in any way he could. He took hacked DNC files from Russia, knowing very well Russia was the origin of the files. He was a willing Russian asset.

Julian Assange collaborated with Russia Today and appeared there several times. Assange's talk show "The World Tomorrow" premiered on RT (formerly Russia Today) on April 17, 2012, with an interview featuring Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. In 2015, Julian Assange participated in RT's 10th anniversary celebrations, appearing in a panel discussion (Screenshot attached). His and WikiLeaks' influence on the US 2016 election campaign is criticized by many, for good reasons: WikiLeaks was accused of cooperating with Russian intelligence services, which Assange denied. The exposure of the identity of dissidents in Iraq and Afghanistan forced many into hiding and put their lives in danger. In 2016, WikiLeaks turned down leaks on the Russian government. On Twitter, they justified that: “WikiLeaks rejects all submissions that it cannot verify. WikiLeaks rejects submissions that have already been published elsewhere or which are likely to be considered insignificant. WikiLeaks has never rejected a submission due to its country of origin.” Warmonger and RT head editor Margarita Simonyan praised him and is looking forward to seeing him again, according to her own statement (attached below).
