By all means boycott Cadbury, and others, because of their use of palm oil in ‘milk’ chocolate, it hurts dairy farmers, drives deforestation and gives a lower quality product. But if you’re peddling the racist ‘Easter is banned’ nonsense’, then do be quiet theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…

Buffer zones don't ban prayer. They uphold the privacy of women having an abortion. If prayer was banned in public then no one could do it. Those getting upset about iftars in public seem to want to agree there's a 'time and place' for everything. Hyperbole and hypocrisy do not for reasoned debate make.
Victoria Freeman@v_j_freeman

I mean, she did. Whatever her reasons she did do that. Creasy can’t then argue others having an issue with public prayer are more suspect than her. But some religions are more readily attacked by MPs than others & for some inexplicable reason that includes our state religion.

@PaulShack56 @BBCNews Whole point of the article is that normal things are becoming too expensive. A family should be able to afford a meal out. We hardly eat out now because I just don't want to spend £50 on 2 mains and 2 drinks. Starters £10 and £9 glass of wine. It's mental.

@BBCNews If they have the £174 Pizza Express meal once a month and instead made the same at home for £44 and put the saving of £130 per month into an ISA after 10 years they'd be sat on £20,000. 20 grand for implementing a slight change of behaviour.

@phillipsc If buffer zones don't ban prayer, then why have lone women been arrested for silent prayer ?

@phillipsc @OliverKamm But it's not the praying that is banned, it's the intimidation & harassment. If you refuse to pray elsewhere it really isn't about you praying is it.

@OliverKamm My point was not about the effectiveness of prayer, which is valid wherever it is offered. I was observing that prayer within buffer zones is banned, and Stella knows it.

@AdamPollock @NarcAware They can silently pray elsewhere, or they can walk through the area and pray. Actively choosing to stand in that spot to 'pray' is choosing to be visible/intimate people accessing health services. Intimidation is the issue, not the praying.

@stellacreasy @AdamPollock So I'm not banned from going into the buffer zone as long as I don't pray. Sounds like the activity being banned is the prayer Are you really such a retard or do you just play one on the interweb?

@stellacreasy @AdamPollock So prayer IS banned in public places then? It matters not whether you call it a “buffer zone”, it’s a public place.

@Heccles94 The window adverts do not say Easter though, and some eggs do not either. That is not the point pal, the point is the slow but deliberate removal of all Christian based culture and laws. This will continue until the new owners have installed their medieval laws; good luck & enjoy

Imagine getting annoyed that Easter eggs don’t say Easter on them, when in fact they say Easter on them. It’s really not normal.

We need to be asking, Who told Cadbury's to do this? The message must be coming from above the company itself.

@_mtf_ @zeynepmyenisey Because it's more helpful to change your lifestyle than to diet and go back to normal eating again. If someone feels the need to snack it's easier to include healthy snacks than avoid forever.

Easter egg rage is in full bloom early this year. Probably climate change. My question to these 'Christians' that are so performatively outraged by a mass capitalism event: Are you not mortally embarrassed by putting this in the public domain? Seriously, it's pathetic.
Ben Graham@BenGrahamUK

Britain has been a Christian nation for over 1,400 years. Through wars, plagues, and countless kings, Easter has always been celebrated. Yet now, Cadbury won’t even use the word ‘Easter’ on their eggs. When did celebrating British traditions become controversial?

Dear Cadbury, “From Cadbury this season.” What season? Go on, say it. It’s EASTER. You are selling EASTER eggs for the EASTER SEASON. How dare you profit off a Christian holiday while erasing its Christian origins. They are Easter eggs. It is Easter. Shame on you.
