Drone footage shows vehicles completely submerged at the Quarters apartment complex in East Lansing, MI, after heavy rainfall on already saturated ground has caused rivers to rise significantly. Unfortunately, many of these vehicles will likely be totaled.

A kind reminder that just because you have expensive equipment and all of this stuff doesn’t mean you have anymore right to be out there than a beginner chaser! We have to learn somewhere!

as someone still just getting into storm chasing, this shit is so discouraging. gatekeeping storms is insane. you have no more right to be out there chasing than I do.
Storm Chaser ☈ob@NaderChaserRob

📢‼️Listen up!! Storm chasing is on the verge of dying yall, and it’s because of all the new chasers who have no clue what they’re doing. Yesterday, in Illinois and Iowa, that storm was moving 60, 70 mph, and yeah, we had to move pretty fast to keep up, but that’s not an excuse to just fly down interstate medians or tear down roads at 100+ mph in heavy traffic in pouring rain an wind. People are following the herd, tracking down and following chasers, breaking laws…passing double yellows, blocking roads… and worst of all, real researchers—guys like @ReedTimmerUSA can’t even get to the damn tornado. THIS ISNT A FUCKING GAME. THIS IS NOT ROBLOX!!! If we don’t stop this shit, the science, the safety, and the real chase will be gone. We must police our community better! And it’s not just about the safety… this is about survival for us as professional chasers. These new kids are giving tornado footage away for free, just chasing clout. Meanwhile, we’ve poured tens of thousands—gear, gas, Starlink, ISPTEK, all that into this. We quit jobs and built life around this. And it’s at risk now. We get the best damn shots, and then some random person posts it, and suddenly everyone uses it. If we can’t protect this, we’re gonna lose everything we’ve built

If you’re wondering why I went live for 3 tornado warnings in Michigan today... Tornadoes don’t need a “big outbreak” or a high risk day to be dangerous. All it takes is one storm in the right environment to produce a tornado that can cause serious damage or put lives at risk. We go live for situations like this because these are the moments that matter most. It may not look like a big deal to everyone, but for someone under that warning, it is. It’s honestly wild seeing people ask “why are you live” when tornadoes at any scale can change lives forever.

Chase your dreams. If you want to be a storm chaser, -DO IT. If you wanna study weather -DO IT. All of the “big” chasers people look up to all had to start somewhere. We all had a DAY 1, and we all have been out there with zero understanding and it’s a beautiful thing. Social media as of late (especially WX community) has been very hostile and off putting to say nicely. But I think it’s important for everyone to go out there and chase their passions. Everyone has a right to be on the roads no more and no less than I do. The only issue I have ever had is the lack of situational awareness/understanding. We have ALL been in these situations, and how you handle them is the most important part. Adrenaline is a crazy drug and causes everyone to react in different ways and go into tunnel vision. Which can lead to traffic accidents, bad positioning on storms, and even serious injury. My advice to this is ask for advice from a someone you look up to, or even are friends with who has more chasing experience. Maybe hop in someone else’s car while you learn. There is nothing wrong with that. But the most important thing is to go out there, HAVE FUN, LEARN, and STAY SAFE. We all have our own dreams and versions in our heads, so go conquer it. #wxtwitter

At 8PM about 20 miles south of Peru, IL last night, I said to @WeatherChickenx, "what do you want to do?". Crash at a hotel with toothbrushes and deodorant, and chase Friday, or we go home and school on Friday. We weighed the options, and came home. Regret for breakfast.
