Once you free up space from parking, it can become something much better. I’ve been cycling and working in this area for 17 years and this shift to trees, benches and people feels transformative. Strangely controversial at first, but once it’s done, no one looks back.

I could never say that I’m straight. Am I in a straight relationship? Yes. Am I in love with a man? Yes! Do I want to spend the rest of my life with him? Absolutely. But does that discredit my past? Siwa reflected on first coming out at 17 and emphasised that her experiences, including past relationships with women and nonbinary people, remain a core part of who she is.
