Tasmanian state election is a great reminder that federal results do not always translate to state results, and state/federal elections are fought on different issues TLDR: Tasmanian result is not bad for Albanese

@DrMLivingston @watinthe_ Is that because they weren’t available to everyone or because those who were eligible declined the offer?

Well, well, well. COVID vaccination numbers are down across Australia throughout 2024. 3 million in 2024. 11% of the population. health.gov.au/sites/default/… I wonder what the repercussions were of that? Oh, the answer, is very easy The Actuaries Institute Mortality Working Group have shown clearly that mortality was a statistically significant 2% higher from Jan to August than what they predicted and drilling down to COVID the excess mortality was 70% higher than predicted. 70%. But it’s ‘just’ a cold or flu (influenza)? Hmmm, no, it’s not. For every 1 death from Influenza there were 5 deaths from COVID. That’s not 1 to 1. Surprisingly, Influenza vaccines appear to have been given to 30% of the population. ncirs.org.au/influenza-vacc… Higher influenza vaccination rates and lower mortality rates. How would have thought that? Proof Covid isn’t ’just’ a flu So what to blame now? You cannot blame Covid vaccines or boosters as hardly anyone is getting one and we are sat in another growing wave in WA of COVID. I wonder how surprised the actuaries working group will be next year with excess mortality. actuaries.digital/2024/12/17/mor…

Please everyone hassle the Australian government to get us updated vaccines. A new wave is coming. I'm health vulnerable, I really need an updated vaccines. Most effective. I'm at 13 mths since last. Don't want old one then have to wait a year to next vax due to the rules here.
Janine Paisley@PaisleyJanine

FDA - The agency is expected to greenlight updated mRNA vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech that target a strain of the virus called KP.2. It was unclear whether the agency simultaneously would authorize Novavax’s updated shot, which targets the JN.1 strain. Come in UKHSA.

@Globalbiosec Would be so useful to know when this’ll be available in Australia now that most of us need to wait over twelve months. Is it worth waiting if due soon? Will never get the latest at an appropriate time the way our scheduling is controlled.

@Globalbiosec Our six monthly dose is due later this month, do we get another xbb now or wait for the JN.1? No doubt we’ll get it at Xmas like last year so late! @Mark_Butler_MP what’s the answer?

@MFWitches 12 for me and the worst thing is I have counted the correct way. Haven’t skipped school, been in a limo, done drugs, sung karaoke, gotten a ticket, been arrested, gone zip lining, been on TV, met a celeb or been sky diving. I guess I’m pretty boring.

@Niasmom_ I was waiting for this because there is a huge difference in letting someone pass and then someone being aggressive and demanding it.

I have a question and I want an honest answer. No one will be judged either way. If you are at the supermarket and you have 20 items, whether you are at self checkout or human scan...and the person behind you has one item...do you let them go ahead of you?

Labor’s latest time-wasting stunts in Parliament have been a massive waste of time, delaying the delivery of the State Budget and the important investments it contains for the Tasmanian community. premier.tas.gov.au/site_resources…

@GeoffField I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been watching The Mike Walsh show when the classic I Still Call Australia Home was performed live by Peter Allen for the first time, that track should be considered as our national song, just has so much meaning for so many.
