Clearly the Commissioner hasn’t read the settlement that Governor DeSantis’s team signed, clearly stating that his “Don’t Say Gay or Trans” law cannot be used to target LGBTQ content differently from other relationships. Reading is fundamental.

Thanks to the leadership of @GovRonDeSantis, teachers in Florida are not allowed to instruct first graders on sexual orientation or gender identity. And if a principal in Florida tried to punish a teacher for refusing to violate the law, the teacher would be protected under the Teacher’s Bill of Rights, another law championed by the Governor. We are grateful for Florida’s teachers who want to educate and not indoctrinate!

We demand that elected officials at every level speak out clearly and unequivocally. Silence is complicity. This racism must be fully rejected, condemned, and confronted, especially when it is coming from the White House itself. 5/5

Equality Florida will not stop speaking out until this bigoted law is neutralized, overturned, and repealed. We deserve a government that protects the freedoms of all Floridians, not just some.

FL’s unelected AG is already threatening LGBTQ-owned and allied businesses with zero proof of wrongdoing in order to intimidate and score political points. This has nothing to do with protecting anyone. It’s about the censorship, control, and targeting of LGBTQ people.

The 11th Cir ruled that FL can begin enforcing its 2023 anti-drag law, though it still can’t enforce it against Hamburger Mary’s in Central Florida, the plaintiff challenging the law in court. While this is a disappointing, let us be clear—this law is as unconstitutional as ever.
