@MuseumCommodore I really wanted to like ROTR. But the controls were horrible, the power meter mechanic made it near impossible to really play. And yeah, 2 special moves per robot stunk. ROTR 2 was much better.

Rise of the Robots was released in 1994 by Mirage Technologies and published by Time Warner Interactive. While it debuted across multiple platforms (including Amiga, PC, SNES, and Sega Genesis), the Amiga version came in two flavors: one for standard Amiga 500/600 systems and an enhanced AGA version for Amiga 1200/4000, reflecting the platform’s hardware evolution. The game is a one-on-one fighting title set in a dystopian future where players control ECO35-2 (aka Cyborg), tasked with infiltrating Electrocorp to stop rogue robots led by the Supervisor. It promised cutting-edge AI and cinematic storytelling, backed by a soundtrack featuring Queen’s Brian May. Marketed as a technological marvel, the Amiga AGA version boasted pre-rendered 3D graphics with ray-traced visuals, inspired by Terminator 2’s CGI. It required significant resources—2MB of RAM and a hard drive for optimal play—pushing the Amiga’s limits, though the standard version was scaled back for broader compatibility. Despite the hype, Rise of the Robots was panned. Amiga Format gave the AGA version a dismal 23%, citing repetitive gameplay (only two moves per character), sluggish controls, and poor AI that didn’t deliver on its “adaptive” promise. The standard Amiga version scored even lower at 18%, hampered by simpler graphics and load times. Who bought this expecting it to be epic and was disappointed by the final product?

Norman Smiley can teach more holds and pins than a brain can even process. A true master on the mat, he’s someone I first watched as a kid during the WCW Starrcade Collision Course tournament. Fast forward to 2003, wrestling him in TNA was unforgettable because let’s be real, not many can say they got big wiggled (and if you don’t know, you should know). This week, my #BuiltFromStone highlight goes out to a selfless coach and all-around great human being. Norman is the man and he deserves every bit of credit he already gets, and then some. From his FCW days to every era of NXT, he’s helped countless wrestlers grow, and his impact can’t be overstated.

@quotetheraven79 @JeffWhitmire1 That was the nice thing about creature feature. Almost everyone was 40-60 per autograph, and most included a selfie with one. I think the only real outlier was Jeffrey combs, who was 50 for an auto and 80 for a combo.
