@Theberni250 Europe has managed to host several World Cups in the past without issue and without sharing it with other countries

Wow!! All of these stadiums in one county?🇺🇸🤯 America hosting that world cup was a great idea. I bet no European country could afford the electricity bill for all those stadiums!

@quesadaaa_ Australia is 4 weeks Annual leave . Oh and we get 'leave loading' as well (so a 17.5% allowance when we are on leave). If you work on a Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday or overnight, you also get penalty rates too

@PatsKam Meh. 35 degree day is warm. Try 32 degrees Celsius at 2am during a week long heatwave when the temperature goes beyond 40°c each day. Thats when you know its hot.

I completely understand why Europeans say “football” and not soccer, but you CANNOT convince me Celsius is better than Fahrenheit. Like 35 degrees just doesn’t represent how hot it truly is, but 95 degrees, now that sounds HOT. It makes more sense.

@markschlereth Ahh American Football. Takes several hours to play the game and the actual game time could fit within half time of a Soccer or Australian Rules Football game. Come to think of it the Auskick kids at half time at an AFL game would probably provide more plays than the NFL

This is why I cannot watch soccer. Somebody bumped into this tough SOB so they had to put a cast on his head. These dudes are softer than real boobies!

@BestinTesla @histofevery_yt2 Baseball... only about 5 countries play it. Maybe come and play Australia in Cricket or Netball and see how you go. We'll even let the US Cricket treat play against our women's team...

@histofevery_yt2 Australians have a complete inferiority complex relative to the USA. Not suprisingly. Australia a country with no natural beauty. No wealth. Convict past. No financial success. Middle of nowhere and strategically irrelevant.

The United States becoming a respectable football nation is one thing. But the real story of this tournament might be how adept they are becoming at banter. This was such good shit.

These weird circle roads seem inefficient What if we just let people drive straight through instead of slowing down to drive around a curve? Could even put up some sort of signal telling people when to stop to allow people coming from the other direction to pass

@Osteolith @bankertobuilder I have 4 roundabouts on my daily route before I hit my first major traffic light. I spend more time at the signalised intersection than negotiating the 4 roundabouts. This is during peak hour. You dont waste fuel as you're generally moving the whole time.

@bankertobuilder They also waste fuel, I suspect, compared to a light. With this everyone slows to a crawl, while with a light you have a good chance of hitting it on green and not even slowing down. A formal study would be needed to prove this, but I suspect I'm right.

@bankertobuilder I call those things traffic death circles. They statistically cause more accidents. The buffoons who love them say "but people have to slow down for them so they dont die in the wreck!" Our forefathers who came up with the traffic light were wise men. Stop copying eurotrash ideas

@bankertobuilder These are commonplace in most parts of the world. They are actually more efficient than installing traffic lights in a lot of locations where you want to keep traffic moving. We also have dual lane roundabouts in my city and even a few regional roundabouts

@HistoryWJacob Americans play their version of football with padding, helmets and only play for 20 seconds before having to wait an eternity for the next play. Hardly exciting.

Okay, since you asked, here’s my American opinion. Soccer will never be as popular in America as football for 3 reasons: 1. The Fake Injuries Players are incentivized to flop because the other team is more likely to get a penalty. In football, it is the opposite. If a player has a real injury, play toughs it out and plays through it, it is seen as heroic. Americans like toughness and grit. 2. Chance Goals Many goals are scored by chance as opposed to skill. The chaos at the net when the ball is near is remarkable. Defenders blocking the goalie’s line of sight. The ball bouncing and ricocheting off of random body parts often determines if the ball goes in the net or out of bounds. In football, there are some elements of chance, but because players are allowed to use their hands, the points are primarily scored based on skill. Less is left to chance. Americans like control. 3. Low Scoring In football, it is still challenging to score, but it happens much more often. Also, every play has a chance for gratification and excitement: a first down, a big catch, a big hit, a sack, an interception, etc American like constant excitement.

Thank you very much @AlboMP . The owner of my home sent the info below, in an email yesterday. My rent is going up 44% in 8 wks and I need to come up with the extra in bond money as well. Tell my again how your recent moves will help first home buyers? I’m spending hundreds more a week now to rent. How do I save?
