@goldstone_tony Has anyone got their refund for pensions advice from January - I haven’t had any contact or confirmation of receipt of claim

@JeremyChelot @youfibre Thanks for sorting. Seems like it was some error communicating my mobile number to the contractor and them arriving early for the job Hoping support can fix my longstanding IPv6 issue now! They have asked for more diagnostics so 🤞

@youfibre @JeremyChelot internet down for 30 hrs. Booked an engineer for today and no show! Support line painfully slow and say the engineer has been at my house since 12:33 - they haven't unless they snook in! Then blame subcontractor for misentering 'inprogress'. Not good!

@drkeithsiau @eljulii37 Never mind getting it out….my ten year old daughter just saw me look at this and asked how the individual swallowed it?

@goldstone_tony Will the following help the current inflation issue? (Obviously not fixing the wider issues) “fixing the interaction between the pension tax system and inflation”

A case of too little, too late 👇 Some useful changes if v. close to retirement, but even they will still be hit by punishing AA/LTA.... as for mid career doctors being punished - ZERO. Missed opportunity #NegativePIAs Read my analysis here in this 🧵 twitter.com/goldstone_tony…
Steve Barclay@SteveBarclay

I've set out reforms to NHS pensions so senior clinicians don't feel like they need to take early retirement or reduce hours. This will help keep senior staff in the NHS for longer, opening up extra patient appointments as we tackle the Covid backlog gov.uk/government/new…

21/ Because of McCloud & the fact your charge may go down/dissapear in 2023 (although UNCERTAIN what will happen if you choose 2015 for the remedy period at retirement) I suspect more people will be inclined to use "scheme pays" this tax year as the loan amount can be changed

1/ A thread about annual allowance in 21/22👇 [+ new free tool] Many will have received a nasty brown envelope from @nhs_pensions this week. If you have (and even if you haven't) you may need to take action. Pay attention and share (please RT) with colleagues who may need this!

"Our plan for patients" released Wording seems to be heading in the right direction on pensions, but nowhere near enough detail to confirm if the policy ideas translate to effective solutions More to come hopefully... gov.uk/government/pub…

NHS pension statement misery time of year. I’m 3k over my AA and I’m yet to receive my 1995 statement with a 10k rise compared to last year (nothing new in my job/pay)… hard working 100% NHS with a CD role…. madness @goldstone_tony

Wow this is complicated. Apparently all due to inflation changes in 21/22. I estimate a 6k tax bill this year With inflation/CPI trebled in 22/23….can’t wait until next year!

@apnoeaboy @nickopotamus @iceman_ex The major appeal point is whether to diagnose death by neurological criteria requires criminal (beyond reasonable doubt) or civil law (balance probabilities) standard of proof. The judgement is interesting as it seems to imply the judge diagnosed death.

@ThaddeusPope @JennyKitzinger @OpenJusticeCoP But if treatment in question is simply not on offer (eg brain transplant as a very extreme example) patient wishes and best interests aren’t relevant? A capacitous patient can only choose treatments on offer - surely the same for those lacking capacity.

At a Court of Protection hearing today, before Mr Justice Keehan, I listened to doctors report on how they’d given ‘futile’ & ‘’burdensome’ treatment to a dying man over many weeks. It was like listening to a story of medical torture. #EOLC #NotSecretCourt

@JennyKitzinger @ThaddeusPope @OpenJusticeCoP If treatment futile according to treating team and second (external) opinion then I struggle to see how it is a CoP case? Seems that NHS/legal don’t want to support clinicians in the fallout?

@JennyKitzinger @ThaddeusPope @OpenJusticeCoP I suspect the trust went for the not on offer approach (as futile) but following disagreement sought legal advice ending in CoP. Seems even if treatment isn’t on offer things are escalating to CoP. Was continued ECMO ever a treatment they were able/willing to offer?

@ThaddeusPope @OpenJusticeCoP Great - would love to hear more about that. Here I think navigating the 'Not on Offer' treatment v "Best Interests" decision re what patient would want is one nettle to grasp
