The headline seems alarming, but really the most distressing bit of this for me was when it followed the phrase "more than two decades ago" with "in 2003": sciencealert.com/a-steaming-hot…

@Waltjan9 My favorite part about the one F4 image is the person shooting a TLR camera, viewfinder closed, no fingers anywhere near the shutter release. Which, sure, totally possible that a human artist would do that, but it's such a weird detail to include if you have no idea how it works.
English
@CharliePryor @DiscussingFilm I love the idea that a human artist who has never used a medium-format camera would decide to put one in their illustration.
English

I don’t see how anyone could see these as AI. None of the common mistakes in AI generated images are there. Even the faces way out of focus have uniformity and consistency in their shape. All letters are legible and clean throughout, at all angles and sizes. All hands drawn well without error. No character clipping. Consistently accurate distance depth with foreground and background.
If they used AI, they are using the best AI generation model in the world by a long shot

Marvel Studios says none of the ‘FANTASTIC FOUR’ posters were made with AI after some fan backlash today.

@MadeOfMonsters My threshold for blocking is so low now. I blocked someone for saying that Montréal bagels don't taste good once they're cold.

@clowngoo Apparently the easiest way is to go to Xi'an. Here's a view of the base, from this video. youtu.be/GRcERvuJpR8?si…

@KaeStrain I've always wondered "who the heck is out there teaching dudes to spit on the ducking sidewalk?" And now I know!
English
@MadeOfMonsters @_r_o_n_e_ It was just something that was on while I was in the room for a while, but season 4 really hooked me. And then we haven't had a chance to get back to it, I think we need to start season 6.
English

@kodi @_r_o_n_e_ oh wow outlander is a very long-running series
I think I saw half of the first season
shows are harder to get into because I want a social experience
English

aw man. late to the party but the serpent queen was canceled after two seasons. HOWEVER there seems to be a spinoff queen elizabeth series in the works with minnie driver. okay fine I'll watch.
it's on starz. does anyone but me have starz??

@MadeOfMonsters I was so surprised when I went to add Venom and realized that it came out SIX years ago. What even is time.

top 12 of the decade so far
for, you know, some definition of top
several movies didn't make the cut because even though they are fantastic and I enjoyed them, I didn't connect to them personally the way I did these

@EllipsisGoblins @amazon The one thing I've seen people say can work is to just relentlessly email them; some people try to guess what they were banned for and send attachments to counter it, others just email and email and email asking for a reason, and sometimes it works.
English

But why? @amazon you've given no reason. I have no idea why my account was closed. And I was told on the phone, that if I try to open a new account, they'll know it's connected to me and close that down too. So... I'm banned from using Amazon forever & I'll never know why?

English
@thisismewhatevs Normally, yes, although some drivers will insist on waiting for you to come to the door. When I've asked them why, they've said it's because people have claimed the food wasn't delivered. (That said, I've also walked down the street looking at porches until I found my food.)
English
@thisismewhatevs Oh! I know it as a "kiss and go" lane, and for some reason totally failed to make the connection.
English
@EllipsisGoblins so, it's chill by comparison, but really there's just like three people left who ONLY post here, and if they move over I can close this tab forever. I'm really anxious for that day, honestly if any one of the three goes I'll probably just give up on the other two.
English
@EllipsisGoblins I've been unfollowing people here once I'm convinced that they're not posting stuff here that isn't also going to that other place. So my timeline now is:
- your impression of your timeline
- your Christmas Tree
- sexy clown
- cat hiding in a Christmas tree
- dead famous person

@MadeOfMonsters I watched the second film when I was very drowsy, and never came back to it, but the violence definitely didn't click with me the way it did in any of the other ones. But three things with a soul and one without cannot possibly add up to "soulless," so "delightful" it is.

I liked mr. right but disliked molly's game

@Jon__Stone @dcurtisj I mean, they must have some sort of income to justify the $8 billion valuation. Once they pair that income up with $8 billion in debt, it should take 5-8 years to bankrupt the company.
English
@Zheko_A @kaushikgopal ...but also "coerce" is a surprising word in this context because I expect it to mean that the return value will be a different type than X. So if it's meant to be identical to minOf() this is a kind of surprising usage.
English
@Zheko_A @kaushikgopal Exactly. The second one seems to be intentionally communicating that X and Y are different, and that would make it more readable when X is the value we care about and Y is just a ceiling on that value. First one reads as "these two things are similar and we want the smaller one."
