Robots are human shaped so they can be like-for-like replacements for humans in low-skill human jobs. You don't have to change anything, just fire the workers and put robots in instead. I would buy one just to do my housework. I don't like dusting and hoovering. But I don't want to rebuild my house around a weird-shaped robot like a Roomba. If the robot is human-shape, I don't have to.
