"AI Cures Organizational Dementia" People forget, but organizations forget at scale. Lately, AI has been stepping in to plug that exact gap, and a recent migration project with my engineering team brought this exact problem into absolute focus for me. Links below...

@ctoLarsson Their naivety that this will work is astounding. Kids that grew up with tech will find workarounds easily.

They actually did it. Young people can only watch mainstream media. No more divergent opinions from YouTube or X. I’m sure MSM and academics are not leaning in any political direction, so there are no other incentives here. It’s for the children.

If you want something from someone, make it clear what. It's not imposing to ask explicitly for something; it's imposing to be vague and make the recipient work to figure out what you want.

In a statement on Le Chaton Fat, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said "it is the greatest threat to humanity since ELIZA".

@amasad I tried to benchmark it, but it just laughed at my efforts and called me an anglophone.

@Noahpinion Claude is weirdly verbose. Recently for me, it has started to add litteral "TLDR" sections at the bottom of its walls of text as an admission of guilt.

One release ago, GPT talked like an annoying nerd who constantly invents new jargon and expects you to understand it, while Claude talked like a normal person. Now those roles are basically reversed.

Suddenly I see why they want to ban social media for kids.

Exclusive from @oliver_wright Dartmoor ponies could be subject to mass culling to reduce the impact on biodiversity after a controversial ruling by the government’s environmental quango Natural England has demanded that all livestock grazing on the moor is reduced by about 75 per cent to protect other habitats, plants and species The move looks set to result in the culling of up to nine in ten of the semi-wild ponies as farmers prioritise their own cattle and sheep to remain within Natural England’s limit to minimise the impact on their own livelihoods Natural England argued that the move was necessary to protect the diversity of Dartmoor, which is a designated site of special scientific interest However, the plan goes against a government commissioned review into the future of Dartmoor, published two years ago, which concluded that Natural England “should not take actions likely to result in a reduction in pony numbers”, adding they were “invaluable for conservation grazing” The move has led to claims that the quango is acting as judge, jury and executioner of the ponies — a species which is itself seen as endangered Dartmoor ponies could be put to death under biodiversity plans thetimes.com/article/ba529f…

@RuudNL @blwiertz Insert "not legal advice" disclaimer, but the broad point is US laws on bankruptcy are far more lenient, which encourages risk taking. Regulations impact business culture.

Europe's problem is not the government(s). It is the founders! It is always easy to blame a third party if something does not work. But we, as European founders, are the problem. We are not ambitious enough. We retire after a 10m exit, rather than starting again and shooting for the stars. We invest in the wrong companies and founders with clean CVs. We need to get better and aim higher to improve Europe. It is on us!

it’s fascinating how much of anthropic’s posture seems shaped by a genuine revulsion toward social media. dario & daniela talk about the social media landscape like a disease more than a product category (latest interview). after this you can see anthropic’s macro decisions start to make a lot more sense incl. the enterprise focus, the anti engagement loop ethos, among lots of other things highlighted in the constitution. a kind of modern anti feed doctrine if you will.

@GergelyOrosz @sean_from_earth Because it's clearly about monitoring ADULT access to social media, under the guise of "protesting the kids". That's the blind spot.

What blind spot? Healthy societies in Europe are all based on curbing of liberties that society considers damaging, even though it would be more profitable for private companies if allowed Why gene modified crops cannot be sold in the EU Why eg Amsterdam drastically reduced speed limits + bans motorists from bike paths Why shops in Germany are mandated to be closed on Sundays Why construction work (that is loud) is only allowed to be done on weekdays, in working hours in many countries etc etc etc

Very surprised by such a naive take. I am constantly surprised by how many otherwise smart people have such a strange blind spot when it comes to sovereignty and liberty, especially given European history.
Gergely Orosz@GergelyOrosz

I have kids who are close to being teens and I support this move by the UK, and wish more countries would follow. Social media, IAP games, and many others are full of dark and addictive patterns - and private companies have zero incentive to be considerate for kids’ development
