Today, the Minister of State for Education, @ClaudetteIrere, presided over the official launch of the Advanced Diploma programmes in Airline and Airport Management and Logistics and Supply Chain Management at @Kigali_College. As Rwanda positions itself as a regional hub for air transport, logistics, and tourism-and invests in major projects like Bugesera International Airport-the demand for skilled professionals is soaring. Developed in partnership with the @WorldBank through the Priority Skills for Growth and Youth Empowerment Project, the programmes are a timely response to equip learners with the practical, job-ready skills needed to thrive in Rwanda’s expanding aviation and logistics sectors. A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of a first-of-its-kind Airport Simulator Workshop and Smart Classroom. With enrolment expected to grow, the programmes are set to train hundreds of students and upskill professionals annually. The launch brought together government officials, development partners, industry representatives, and students, who toured the facilities and observed live training demonstrations.

@RwandaPolytec leadership recently came together to reflect and strategize on advancing gender equality and social inclusion across all RP Colleges. Discussions focused on how to better integrate practical and sustainable #gender responsive approaches across institutional policies, programs, leadership, and campus life. The leadership reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment where students and staff can participate, thrive, and reach their full potential. This was organized under AFTER 2 Project supported by @AFD_en through @expertisefrance, @LuxDev_HQ

Under the Higher Education Pedagogy for Teacher Education (HEP-TED) Project, senior leaders from @RwandaPolytec held an engaging discussion with academic leaders and experts in quality management and pedagogical leadership from Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The exchange focused on the importance of pedagogical leadership and how it can strengthen students’ learning experiences and improve academic performance. The HEP-TED project continues to foster mutually beneficial collaboration between Rwandan and Finnish universities, promoting knowledge sharing and cross-institutional learning in key areas such as pedagogy, quality assurance, and higher education management.

Connecting classroom theory with real industrial practices, in collaboration with @AFD_en, @LuxDev_HQ and @expertisefrance through the AFTER II Project, yesterday, our Year 2 Students from Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department strengthened their practical knowledge of renewable energy technologies through an insightful study visit to the Nyabarongo Hydro Power Plant. During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore key operational areas of the plant, including the dam and the powerhouse, where they observed firsthand how water is collected, controlled, and converted into electrical energy. This field experience enabled them to deepen their understanding of hydropower generation systems, from water intake and turbine operation to electricity production and transmission.

Today at Splendid Hotel, the Deputy Principal in charge of Academics and Trainings, @manlen2 officially closed a six-day In-Company Instructors Training delivered to companies that have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with RP Karongi College to collaborate in hosting our students for industrial attachment programs. Participants expressed their appreciation for the training and committed to applying the skills acquired to provide workplace learners with relevant practical competencies. The training was conducted in collaboration with @RwandaPolytec, @AFD_en, @LuxDevHQ, and @expertisefrance through the AFTER II Project.

Earlier today, RP Karongi College welcomed H.E. Aurélie Royet-Gounin, Ambassador of France to Rwanda, for a courtesy visit to our Nyamishaba Campus. The visit reviewed progress of the AFTER II (Appui à la Formation Technique et l’Emploi au Rwanda) Project, funded by the Government of France @AFD_en and @LuxDevHQ, reaffirming its contribution to strengthening TVET in Rwanda. Through the AFTER II Project, the Nyamishaba Campus will be modernized with new sports facilities, a learning center, student accommodation, a library, a business center, and administrative infrastructure, among others.

On 9th January 2026, the Induction and Orientation Week for the second intake of the 2025–2026 academic year came to an end. In her official closing remarks, the Principal of Karongi College, @IngabireDom commended the students for their participation in the programme and urged them to be creative and innovative in all that they do. "I encourage you to start each day with gratitude, to set clear goals and missions' statements, and to put everything in order so that you can succeed throughout the three years you will spend at Karongi College. We are here to support you," said the Principal.

Today, the Deputy Principal in charge of Academics and Training, @manlen2, officially opened the Induction and Orientation Week by welcoming the new students and wishing them a rewarding academic journey. In his address to the students, the Deputy Principal said: “Your presence here today marks the beginning of an important chapter in your academic, professional, and personal journey. This College is not only a place to acquire academic knowledge, but also a space to develop practical skills, discipline, responsibility, and a mindset aligned with the needs of society and the labour market. This week is not just about listening; it is also about asking questions, engaging actively, and preparing yourselves for success. You are here because you have potential. Use this opportunity wisely—be curious, be disciplined, be innovative, and above all, be responsible citizens and future professionals.”
