I've sure enraged a lot with this. Mostly always enraged lefties, but even some regular Conservatives I engage with politely disagreed.
But I also found more than I figured who agree. To be clear, I don't have a specific proposal in mind. Just trying to engage in a debate about voting.
I guess if some lefties can propose lowering the voting age to 16, then others can propose counter arguments.
Maybe it's just raising the age (21? 25? 30?), as opposed to income or property. Or maybe it's a test, like citizenship.
All I know is thy everyday I deal with people who don't have any knowledge about what govt does what or that opposition parties aren't "the govt." And the majority of requests are permanent residency or get me my benefits-related.
You wouldn't let someone who can't drive get a license, or can't operate become a surgeon. But the direction of a country?

I'm likely in the minority on this, but the longer I work in politics, the more I think there should be more restrictions on voting in general, let alone being an MP or Senator. Why should a welfare recipient living in social housing have the same voting power as someone who runs a company, creates jobs, & pays property taxes? At least half the country gets money from the govt in some form. That's an inherent bias to vote for parties that will give you more, no matter the consequences to the economy, others, or future generations.

There is a 6 year delay between the drastic drop in murder rate (from its peak to a 20 year low) and the increase in incarceration.

Bukele was elected the Mayor of San Salvador in 2015 which is El Salvador's most populated city with 1/4 of the nation's population. His approach on crime & the resulting reductions there, is what led him down the path of becoming president. Your ignorance is unparalleled

🇵🇪 Leftist candidate Roberto Sánchez has announced he will not recognize the results of Peru's razor-thin June 7 presidential runoff, alleging systematic manipulation of the vote.
"We believe there has been a serious disruption to the electoral process ... Under these conditions of violation of the rules, we will not recognize Ms. Fujimori's government," he said today.
Following weeks of counting and reviewing contested ballots, and 99.72% of the total vote processed, right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori holds a fractional lead of 50.11% to 49.89%, just over 40,000 votes out of millions cast.
Sánchez has called his supporters to the streets to protest the electoral authority. He is demanding the National Electoral Jury (JNE) completely annul the 300,000 votes cast by Peruvians abroad, arguing that irregular handling by consular offices in countries like the United States and Argentina favored Fujimori. Without these votes, Sánchez says he would win the presidency by 25,000 votes.
The JNE has, thus far, rejected multiple legal attempts by Sánchez's party, Together for Peru (Juntos por el Perú), to throw out those polling stations.
The winner of the highly polarized election is scheduled to take office on July 28 for a five-year term.
