@gayest_tone @ethereality0000 Ok so any ideas of how to do it short of total communist victory? Like literally anything in the short term? Any way of advocating for it that you would promote and not view as scolding? Seems to me you exclusively tell others to stop advocating for it. Something I’m missing?

100% correct & incredible that this person admits that they have no plans to do a single thing differently despite believing all of this. stop self-flagellating, if you believe it's the right thing to do just do it.

At some point we have to accept that OP has a point and those of us who stopped masking at some point, made an active decision to disregard the value of a certain number of human lives. I even felt it at the time, ~Fall 2022, that I knew it was wrong and just didn't care enough.

@cutelikeafox12 If I’m being honest, no. I won’t say sorry. If I was, I’d change. Ultimately the thread was about my own experience. Like the right, I care more about my own comfort and convenience than about the well-being of others.

"leftist" but you don't mask "disability advocate" but you don't mask "community care" but you don't mask "we keep us safe" but you don't mask "healthcare access for all" but you don't mask "do no harm" but you don't mask "liberation for all" but you don't mask

@ferdaterd @bilbosfootcomb You're free to think that I'm a bad person but irl I treat everyone equally until they prove that they don't deserve to be treated well. Every black I have to deal with at work gets treated properly but 3/4 times they demonstrate that they don't deserve it.

@walletfalls So it gives you this astonishing "Which world is inside the other?" effect, cos the strings are clearly composed, they're not improvising, but their parts are taken directly FROM improvised solos, so you start to feel this very eerie connection between the band and the strings

Take a listen sometime to a track or two from INTERSTELLAR SPACE, which is widely regarded as Coltrane's "craziest" album. No chords, no key, no tempo, just sax & drums, and *every note* of it is premised on scalar & modal logic so rigorous that Bach would be overwhelmed
@corpseinorbit

That was a very underrated part of Trane's massive impact: other players weren't limited to hearing him and then "trying to do that." There's this sprawling cosmic web of deep logic to Coltrane, often MOST crucially at his craziest-sounding, which you can study and understand

@walletfalls In that sense, John McLaughlin really was his truest disciple: most Mahavishnu had at least one set of complex changes, but the solos were over pedal points & simple vamps, and JMac worked the same way –common scales applied strangely, often cross-matched btwn different keys

@JamesSurowiecki "Italians equal Islamists!" The fallacy of false analogy is strong with this one. I make no apologies that I do not want this country to be run by Islamists. Do you?

@davidhogg111 It's socialism. Who will pay when you have no more workers?? No more businesses?? You're advocating for Sharia law and communism. Good luck!! This is America. We won't tolerate rape gangs in the name of diversity.

you know, people can’t watch Palestinian kids being butchered every day for 21 months and whenever someone objects to this they get smeared as an “antisemite” by crybullies at the ADL or Atlantic magazine and expect this line to work anymore. It’s been completely cheapened, sorry
David Frum@davidfrum

Well, at least we can retire that faded and false line, "antisemitism has no place in New York City."

Brian Wilson also said something that I've been repeating for 20 years now: he introduced "California Girls" by saying, with no guile or irony, "Here's another great song I wrote that everybody loves!"
