My dear friend Jamie Blanks passed away this past weekend. While a supremely talented film director, editor and composer, I knew Jamie as a die-hard horror film fan.
He not only created the Urban Legend franchise, but also made significant uncredited creative contributions to the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise as well.
We spent many hilarious Halloween nights together in LA, yet when he returned home to Australia he'd still call every Halloween night with a warm greeting.
Jamie was a virtuoso musician and on Halloween night he would set up a Phantom of the Opera organ on my lawn and as each child approached he could instantly play the theme song of the costume the kids were wearing, to their parent's delight.
A great friend, father, husband and filmmaker. He will be missed.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Philip Castle.
Few collaborations in cinema are as visually iconic as Philip Castle and Stanley Kubrick.
Castle’s airbrush artistry gave unforgettable shape to Kubrick’s vision - the iconic poster of #AClockworkOrange and the haunting imagery of #FullMetalJacket remain engrained in cinematic art.

You know why CGI in movies looks bad even though they spend hundreds of millions with infinitely better tech? After 15 years of digital cinematography that takes no skill to shoot, we have a new generation of filmmakers and artists that think flat lighting is the new normal.

@christopherrufo There are already cougars on the west side of Highway 101. The wildlife crossing allows for animals to move back and forth to avoid overcrowding and inbreeding. We coexist with cougars just fine here, Chris.

The craziest thing about Newsom's $100 million wildlife bridge is that it will allow cougars, an apex predator, direct access into a suburban neighborhood filled with pets, children, and the elderly. It's like the radical environmentalist version of The Purge.

California Democrats have cooked up a new “Property Transfer Tax” that would charge homeowners 5-6% on every home sale — based on the sale price, not your equity.
That means if your home is worth $700,000 to $1 million — which is common in California — you could get hit with a tax bill of $42,000 to $60,000 just for selling your home!
That’s right: after years of paying your mortgage, property taxes, insurance, and upkeep, Sacramento politicians want to grab tens of thousands more when you sell.

Temple said that she was separated from her mother at MGM and went into the office of Louis B. Mayer, and into the office of Arthur Freed about being given a role for a movie, Temple alleged that Freed was naked when she entered his office. If you review some of Shirley Temple’s old footage today, it is disturbing to say the least.

An incident at the end of the 98th Oscars involving 'One Battle After Another' star and Best Supporting Actress nominee Teyana Taylor and a security guard has gotten the attention of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The statement said: “Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable. We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again”
