@FrankConniff Nothing makes you more invested in the Olympics like rooting for someone (regardless of nationality) who shed blood, sweat and tears to get where they are. It's not about the winning so much as overcoming the insurmountable that I love seeing in these games.

I'm not a sports guy but it seems to me that this kind of genuine unbridled emotional joy, generated by actual human achievement, and not data centers, is something we really need to see these days.

Unfortunately misplaced frustration on the movies, which I think were thoughtfully made by people who truly cared for the books. The same can't be said for the series from The Hobbit movies and onward. WB/Amazon misunderstood why the movies were so loved and tried cashing in.
