This is an infamous sandwich from Katz’s Delicatessen, lines out the door nearly every day, known for its generous portions and it sells for nearly $30.

When layoffs happen in MNCs, why do they also start hiring aggressively? Because they often lay off high-paid employees (US/Europe) and hire in countries like India where salaries are lower. You might be shocked, but on average 1 US software engineer = 3–5 Indian engineers (cost-wise) It’s not just layoffs, it’s cost cutting.

Interviewer: If a user uploads a 5GB file but loses internet halfway, how should the backend handle resuming the upload?

Europeans when World War 3 starts but it's August

@championswimmer took this when coming out from lunch!

Interviewed a backend developer. Guy was at 21 LPA. We offered 28 LPA, roughly a 33 percent hike. He agreed and confirmed joining. Yesterday he emailed saying he got a 32 LPA offer elsewhere and now wants 36 LPA from us. Nonsense. Why agree in the first place. If you are still shopping offers just say it upfront. We stopped interviewing other candidates and waited through the notice period for the joining date. Now two days before joining, he came back with a new price tag.

I gave Claude Cowork an AWS cost report and asked it for an analysis. I offered it context in markdown and architecture knowledge in another file. Game it an example working. It generated extremely pretty and hilariously wrong output. I spent 2 hours debugging and fixing the prompt and then ran out of limits. Doing it in Excel took 30 mins. I think I am too stupid for this AI thing.
