I’m not sure it’s “without any reason” - Trump saw the videos of her speaking to him and the photos (like these) and notably, the accompanying commentary and it was all a shot to his ego - so he lied. It’s kinda textbook at this point 🤷♀️

This dust up with Italy is a perfect example of many of Trump's missteps. He tells a blatant lie without any reason, just because he has to sound like people are so willing to grovel to him. The false story gets him nothing and the fallout costs the United States.

The US is not paying Iran anything under this deal, and the people who keep saying this like @ChrisMurphyCT -- or, worse, who are saying that the US is paying Iran $300 billion, like @amyklobuchar -- are outright lying.
The money that flows to Iran's is Iran's money: that the US froze and refused to give back but will now release under the deal. The $300b is the maximum Iran can get. That's not from the US or from Americans, but from a private fund financed by the Persian Gulf dictatorships and their oligarchs.
These are just Democrats trying to prove to AIPAC and the pro-Israel lobby that they're more hawkish on Iran than Trump/Vance.
