Nick Shirley, a 23-year-old conservative YouTuber and self-described independent journalist, has ignited a fierce controversy with his explosive claim against California Governor Gavin Newsom. In a recent Fox News @ Night interview aired around March 19, 2026, Shirley declared: “The governor of California is an enemy to the people of California. He’s literally working to support the fraudsters.” This fiery statement came amid Shirley’s viral investigation into alleged widespread fraud in California’s taxpayer-funded programs, particularly subsidized daycare and hospice/Medi-Cal operations. Shirley claims his team uncovered over $170 million in suspected fraud—potentially escalating into billions—through “ghost” facilities: empty lots, abandoned storefronts, or unrelated businesses registered as daycare centers or hospice providers that bill millions without providing services. He alleges fraudsters live luxuriously while draining public funds, echoing earlier probes like those by Dr. Mehmet Oz into hospice abuses. The backlash stems from Newsom’s office response. Rather than engaging with Shirley’s findings or launching probes, the governor’s team reportedly mocked him on social media with AI-generated memes portraying Shirley as predatory (e.g., a man with cameras at a daycare asking to “see your kids”). Shirley interpreted this as an attack on the messenger instead of addressing the alleged crimes. In the interview, Shirley expanded his critique: “He COULD be working to expose the fraud. How STUPID do you have to be to say ‘let’s go after the guy exposing the fraud, let’s not go after the fraudsters?’ That is what he’s doing.” He emphasized bipartisanship, noting, “These tax dollars don’t say right or left on them… when they go and steal these dollars from us, they’re not robbing Democrats or Republicans—they’re robbing everyone.” Shirley questioned why Newsom targeted him personally rather than thanking him or investigating: “Why don’t you say ‘Hey Nick, great video—how can we help?’” Shirley’s California exposé, a 40-minute video posted on X, has amassed millions of views and drawn coverage from outlets like the New York Post, Fox News, and Sky News Australia. It builds on his prior Minnesota daycare fraud revelations, which prompted federal action and congressional testimony. In California, he highlights patterns like clustered hospice providers in single buildings (e.g., one Van Nuys street hosting a disproportionate share nationally) and “ghost” daycares with no visible children or activity despite massive reimbursements. Critics of Newsom point to longstanding issues: California’s history of massive unemployment insurance fraud during the pandemic (tens of billions lost), slow reforms, and ongoing federal scrutiny of Medi-Cal improper payments. Some, including conservative commentators, frame Newsom’s dismissive response as evidence of complicity or negligence, fueling calls to “get Gavin Newsom out of politics.” However, no evidence substantiates claims that Newsom actively supports fraudsters—no charges, proven ties, or policies explicitly enabling crime exist. State officials have highlighted efforts to combat fraud, including revoking licenses, recovering funds, and partnering with federal agencies. Shirley’s allegations remain unverified by independent audits in many cases, though they amplify broader concerns about oversight in high-spending programs. The episode underscores deep partisan divides: Shirley’s supporters hail him as a whistleblower fighting waste, while detractors see sensationalism. Even some Democrats, like Sen. John Fetterman, rebuked Newsom’s meme response as misguided amid real fraud worries. As investigations continue—potentially tied to federal task forces—Shirley’s blunt accusation has thrust California’s governance into the national spotlight, raising urgent questions about accountability for taxpayer dollars.

NEW: NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has stepped up to help cover the funeral costs for 12-year-old Jada West who sadly passed away following a fight at a school bus stop. “This story touched my heart the moment I saw it in the media,” O'Neal said. “As a father, my heart goes out to Jayda's family. No parent should ever have to bury their child, and if there is anything I can do to ease even a small part of that burden, then it is the right thing to do. Our community must surround this family with love, support, and compassion during such a painful moment.” Police say West got into an altercation at a bus stop. She was able to stand up after getting knocked to the ground during the fight, but later fell to the ground again as she tried walking away. West was then rushed to the hospital due to brain trauma where she died.

Picture-perfect corruption? @CAgovernor Gavin Newsom's budget proposal includes $33,000 for a self-portrait of himself. No, seriously. This is the same guy that reportedly spent $114 million on an unfinished wildlife bridge though. California... the land of insane taxes, massive fraud and wasteful spending. REPOST this everywhere! #thinblueline #lawenforcement

Ilhan Omar caught trying to launder a million US taxpayer dollars to a fake Somalian owned “substance abuse” facility. The address is really a restaurant “Uncovered the other day in one of our spending bills making its way through Congress was a $1 million earmark from Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, which was an earmark that was supposedly going to a substance abuse clinic. Which actually happened to be housed in a restaurant and run by three individuals that share the same residential address according to their IRS paperwork. Tons of red flags”

A driver who killed a family of four, including two babies, at a San Francisco bus stop was sentenced to probation. Mary Fong Lau (seen here walking through the courthouse today) dodged jail and prison time. Lau, 80, was speeding when her Mercedes SUV plowed into a West Portal bus stop in 2024, investigators said. A family was waiting to catch the bus for a trip to the zoo. The crash killed Diego Cardoso de Oliveira, his wife, Matilde Pinto, and their two babies. Lau stood up in the courtroom and said, “I want to say to all the family, sorry. Sorry.” Full Story: kron4.com/news/bay-area/…

@JenniferSey I love @elonmusk and I want people doing their job to get paid. But. I almost don’t want to accept this as how this should be solved. It feels like giving into a tantrum. We can’t rely on the generosity of a genius to bail people (in congress, not the workers) out this way.
