Distinct memory from elementary school history class. Teacher is telling us about Hitler. She takes the few students with blue eyes and blond(e) hair and puts us in the corner. Teacher says to the rest: “Hitler wanted to kill everyone except them.” We high-fived each other.

Lincoln put a bullet in the founding fathers' vision for the United States. He transferred the basis of union from compact to conquest and reduced the USA from a federation of sovereign states to an empire with various administrative provinces.

@EdLatimore ID Channel stories blow my mind. A woman kills her husband because she wants the life insurance, gets caught, and now she wakes up every single day in jail, does nothing all day, and eats the worst food forever and never gets to leave. Why would anyone risk receiving that fate?

I watched a YouTube video on spending life in prison. One guy was 80 years old and had been locked up since he was 17. Someone left a comment that I gotta share with you: "At 80 years and still has a dream to be free and start over. Makes me realize how much I can achieve with this freedom I have."

The best way to defeat liberals in argument is to argue from the left of them. $15 minimum wage, why not $100? Asylum? why not open borders? They have no principles they can call on to limit their own arguments.

Don't think this can't happen here. It can and will. The Bolsheviks are spiteful bastards who will destroy all they can, even the grave of a horse Gen. Lee's horse, Traveller, is buried outside the Lee family crypt under Lee Chapel at Washington and Lee University. The leftist administrators and board renamed Lee Chapel "University Chapel" during the George Floyd drama, then dug up and destroyed Traveller's headstone during the same Cultural Revolution There was enough outcry that they eventually replaced it with a vague one that doesn't do Traveller justice, but this stands as a testament to the fetid, rotting souls against which we must fight: our heritage and history are so detested and despised by the Bolsheviks that they'll even try to hide and desecrate a beloved horse's grave to chip away at our memory of the noble deeds of our ancestors. We all must do our part to keep the flame alive

I was at the grocery store today when I came upon a girl scout dressed in her uniforms selling Krispy Kreme donuts for $3 each. Approaching the stand, one of them greeted me perkily, asking if I would like to buy a donut to support research for breast cancer. This piqued my interest - “how does buying these donuts support breast cancer research?” I inquired. The little girl smiled and responded by saying that they sell the donuts at a $1.00 markup, so each donut sold equals one dollar for cancer research. I thought about this for a few seconds and then pointed out that marking up the donuts was creating an inefficiency in the market, that exploiting the sense of guilt of passers-by they were distorting incentive structures and causing capital allocation inefficiencies. I also pointed out that, objectively, raising money at the micro-level to pass along to some charity was an incredibly poor method of encouraging cancer research. Far more effective would be encouraging every citizen who stopped at her booth to spend that one dollar on the equity of a major drug producer, to provide them with the raw free capital to engage in drug exploration and to signal to the market the need for such drugs. The little girl frowned and her eyes grew kind of blurry, she started muttering something about how they were just trying to help any way they can. I, of course, expertly disarmed this by citing Ayn Rand: “It's simple to seek substitutes for competence – such easy substitutes: love, charm, kindness, charity. But there is no substitute for competence.” At this point the girl started crying and some woman, probably her mother, came up to me to ask what had happened. I then proceeded to explain how her misguided attempts to teach her daughter empathy were actually her inculcating her in a bastardized anti-free market ideology, and how their entire schtick was a disgusting attempt to make themselves superior to their fellow citizens by virtue of charity. Anyway, this woman asked me what the hell was wrong with mr, so realizing I was dealing with a profoundly irrational actor I quickly went back to shopping. She ended up finding a security guard who kicked me out of the store by threatening to call the cops (agents of the states violence), further demonstrating the irrational devotion of these statists to their genocidal ideology. Anyway, the real lesson here is that people don’t care about the problems they claim to care about. If that girl scout sincerely cared about breast cancer research she would have understood the importance of capital markets and economies of scale to drug development, or at least been open to learning about such things. Even if her ignorance could be justified by juvenile naivety, the ignorance of her guardan was inexcusable. Most people’s stated goals, concerns, and cares are actually a thin coat of paper over an internal set of desires and neuroses they are constantly trying to assuage. Taking their stated objectives at face value is a one-way ticket to disappointment. Lesson in there.

We met a couple tonight at the hotel. Nice people. I see he's wearing a Richard Mille and I strike up a conversation with him about it. We're talking about watches and I'm not telling him I hate RMs. He asks me if I wanted to try it on and I take my watch off and put it on. OK, so... It turns out I love them. Wife sees how much I like it and says "aww, it's cute and looks good on you. You should buy one." My heart is exploding. It's out of my price range, but I'm blinded by how much I love it. The guy is agreeing with her, I should totally buy one. I'm ignoring the fact that at most, my wife thought it was maybe 20k. We're in our room and I'm looking up RMs on the secondary market. I show her one and she says "I love that one, get it." I'm sweating. She's enabling my mania. I'm in some alternate universe because no way is she telling me to buy it. I'm showing her all the ones I like, picture after picture. Like a kid explaining his Christmas list to his parents. The details, everything. I show her this RM 011. I say I really want this one. She says "just buy it." Then she finally becomes inquisitive. She asks, "How much is?" I mumble and say "around 250" I know my chances are blown. She asks, "Why are you even talking about it? That's so cheap." I tell her it's about 250k. She looked at me like she just found out I had a 57 IQ. The look she gave me was indescribable. She looked at me like she found out I was a serial killer. She just responded with "Are you fucking insane? Are you an actual crazy person?" Anyway, I'm not getting the watch. It was fun to own, even in my head for an hour.
