What if death sat beside you, sharing your favorite drink, and quietly whispered: “You’ve done enough. Finish your glass-it’s time to go.” What would you say?

@PenTitan Dhruv's special gradeness comes from his CT, there's such a thing as bad matchups. Yuta struggles against Ryu and Sky Lady too, yet for whatever reason, they were stalemated against Dhruv

@polyfraggrenade That says to me that he's referring to the language specifically English because the English langiage WAS forced upon the Irish, they said their prayers in Latin or Irish

@polyfraggrenade But Remmick was a vampire before he came to America. Remmick hears the Lords Prayer in English and says his people were "forced" to say those words, but the Irish were catholic by choice, they werent forcefully converted--

@SophiaNarwitz The stoner subculture has really declined is the problem. There used to be a solid demographic of people who would think "thats so cool", there used to be movies targeted to them. Not so anymore

@_SweetDan @JeremiahDJohns Nobody's saying it was an intentional allegory but that such things give us a window into the author

@JeremiahDJohns Tolkien calls that applicability. He hated allegory. Nothing in his work is meant by him to represent something or be a allegory to something. He wants the readers to take whatever lessons and interpretations of the text as they will.

@Caol_MacCormaic @dmsolano99 The tone isn't upended at all. In fact, the last paragraph about the brook trout is a call back to the man's memories of them as a boy. Things that are gone (the world) can never come back. That's nihilistic af. IDC if the new family has a dog, they will eventually have to eat it

@Caol_MacCormaic @dmsolano99 I don't think the last five pagea of anything can totally deconstruct the last 345 in that way. McCarthy seems to be a bit of a social darwinist, he belueved conflict and evolution were coterminous. Fighting and survival are both necessary for each other.

@dmsolano99 in the case of The Road I think they just don’t finish it lol. It’s pretty bleak the whole time but the last like five pages completely upend the tone of everything that came before

I maintain that the single most insufferable thing about New Yorkers is that they bewilderingly try to claim everything. This transcends politics—all New Yorkers do this. Yes, everyone has coffee. Everyone has convenience stores (nicer than your “bodegas”). Everyone has what you have and it’s usually cleaner and cheaper!

@WizFather_ I think theres a lingering question of: Did Tywin anticipate that Tyrion would spend his time swaggering around, making enemies believing he was under Tywin's aegis, leaving Tywin free to use those enemies against him at the first pretext?

Tywin naming Tyrion Lannister as Hand while he rides to war in Game of Thrones is less a promotion and more a calculated test dressed as an opportunity. For Tyrion, it feels like validation and recognition from Tywin Lannister, but it comes at a cost - King’s Landing is already unstable. Cersei Lannister failed to control Joffrey Baratheon… and Eddard Stark’s execution has ignited the realm. Tywin knows exactly what he’s doing. He leaves Tyrion in a city on the brink. Manage the king. Contain Cersei. Hold the capital together. Prove your worth… or fail like I expect you to.

What's the term for an American who's like... a weeb for Ireland? Like there are so many yankoids that actually know jacksht about Ireland and think it's all leprechauns, four leafed clovers and this sht. So many who claim Irish heritage but have never known an Irish relative.

In some cultures, women get down on all fours & twerk while throwing up gang signs. In Irish culture, women dance through the forest like angels. WE. ARE. NOT. THE. SAME.

@CharlOfTheCross @WizFather_ I mean, you could do equal parts Vienna and thermoplyae. My ace in the hole would be to have the infantry fall back behind the wall, open it to allow the horde to come in somewhat so they could be fought at a narrpw chokepoint a la Thermoplyae

The unsuccessful charge of the Dothraki at the Battle of Winterfell in Game of Thrones starts as a spectacle and collapses into a strategic disaster. This is the most feared cavalry in the world. Built for open-field dominance, speed, shock, and psychological warfare, and they were sent blind to an enemy they don’t understand. For a brief moment, the flaming arakhs create hope, but then the lights slowly begin to vanish. It was a complete erasure of a fighting force that thrives on visibility and momentum because of a tactical miscalculation.

@WizFather_ 2. To that point, put up some obstacles. Logs, barrels of rocks, something. Can't dig, ground is frozen. Direct them straight to the infantry 3. Put the infantry close to the wall but not too close 4. Put the heavy cav far on the flanks, behind the heaviest obstacles

@WizFather_ I would have 1. Put the artillery on the walls Sent the Dothraki around the flanka to harry and slow progress The enemy doesnt have morale to be broken, nor discipline, their advantage is in mass. Mass is an effective weapon, but it relies on momentum.
