@KrutikaKuppalli @hantavirus Its very possible. During Covid my son got sick, we quarantined properly for 14 days. The night before we returned to work and school I started showing symptoms, thus restarting the 14 day clock. 28 days total and I did it fine, but people are selfish.

I agree with this. The key question is whether individuals need to quarantine for @hantavirus at UNMC or whether they could safely complete quarantine at home with appropriate public health monitoring. When I returned from Sierra Leone during the Ebola outbreak, I completed a 21-day home quarantine. That was challenging enough, and I can only imagine how much more difficult it would have been in a centralized quarantine facility.

It doesn’t make sense to me why the American passengers from the boat wouldn’t be quarantined. But I’m willing to be convinced if you have a strong counter argument.

If asymptomatic or presymptomatic transmission remains scientifically unresolved for Andes virus, what exactly prevents a quarantined passenger from exposing family members during 45 days of shared air, bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry?

Na medische checks op Tenerife zullen passagiers na aankomst in Eindhoven een intake krijgen: bloedafname en een vragenlijst. Na professioneel en veilig vervoer zullen zij in quarantaine gaan. Thuis of op een centrale locatie.

WHO is at it again. Don’t fall for it!! Hantavirus is NOT person to person transferable. You have to be in DIRECT contact with rodent urine or feces to contract it!! Gene Hackman’s wife died from it… there was not a peep about a hantavirus pandemic! It’s all about CONTROL!

@sgillern @Plinz Thats what I literally just said and told you why it wont work. People couldn't quarantine for 2 weeks during Covid, they're NOT going to choose to stay in the unit for 8 weeks dumbass.

@InnocenceInv @Plinz No, they will all go to the National quarantine facility for further evaluation. Then it will be determined if they need/ want to stay and if they can quarantine at home safely.

The Hanta virus strain from the cruise ship has been sequenced, and it appears to be the known Andes strain (high mortality but not very infectious). It seems immoral to send passengers home via commercial flights during incubation period (would you want to be on that plane?)

@sgillern @Plinz They already stated this morning they will not be required to stay in Nebraska, they will be traveling home once arriving. Even if they test them in Nebraska before they leave, a French man tested negative upon exiting the ship today and symptoms started on the flight home.

@InnocenceInv @Plinz They are all going to the bio containment unit in Nebraska. Some may be allowed to leave and isolate at home “If safety protocols allow it”. They will be driven there by officials and monitored daily.

@kushibo @DrEricDing @j_g_allen And Ding knows better than to call it airborne. Easily could have been a contaminated surface like Buffett food and they touched their mouth. Not enough data to call it airborne like Ding did. Hence why the experts aren’t at this time

Wow, if true— it means Trump’s CDC is wrong/lying about “prolonged close contact” needed for hantavirus transmission. The cruise ship 🛳️ doctor tells @j_g_allen that 3 positive ship cases did not have any close contact — only shared spaces—this implies AIRBORNE TRANSMISSION.

@X_Fact_Checker @kushibo @DrEricDing @j_g_allen As of early 2026, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been ordered to cease, and has discontinued, all collaboration, communication, and technical work with the World Health Organization (WHO).

@kushibo @DrEricDing @j_g_allen CDC IS working with WHO. But WHO is the direct workers on board. Back to my point: why isn’t Ding calling out WHO? They are sharing this message with all countries and have the data. WHO also told Trump that Covid wasn’t airborne until July 2020. Trump was given bad facts.

@Odin_5150 @DrEricDing @j_g_allen We have zero data as to transmission or mutation in a populated area. The only prior outbreaks were in remote villages in Argentina and Chile. Not quarantining those who are returning is just adding fuel to the fire.

@DrEricDing @j_g_allen This feels like COVID-19 all over again. Have they researched the strain for any unusual or “uncharacteristic” changes? With everything Trump has done to the government, I’m worried that if this turns into another COVID-type situation, we’ll be completely unprepared.

Last time we had a virus tear through the United States, MAGA fought every single possible control measure. Millions of Americans died. Now the deadly Hantavirus is in California, Arizona, Texas and Georgia…. Think about what’s next….

@mrober73 @LeeCos84 @DrNeilStone Thats because theres never been an outbreak in a populated area, thats the only reason it doesnt have pandemic potential to date. There is zero data as to transmission and mutation of the Andes strain in populated areas such as the present outbreak 🤡

@PetVet0 @BishopBlougram @adgirlMM @smc429 34% of people were infected when the ill individual was at the party for less than 2 hours and had no contact with some of the individuals who caught it. Thats a significant number considering it occurred in a RURAL village. 🤦🏻‍♀️ thats the only reason it didnt spread further.

@InnocenceInv @BishopBlougram @adgirlMM @smc429 That’s the Epuyén 2018 diagram. If you’re going to play scientist, do the math: a superspreader in a room of 100+ people and only a few got sick? If it were actually "easy" to catch, that party would've been a morgue. One lucky outlier doesn’t rewrite the rulebook. Try again….

@InnocenceInv @j_g_allen @CoronaHeadsUp Actually I saw them and I didn't see one paper claiming 60% fatality rate. Greatest fatality rate mentioned is 50% and was recorded during first epidemic in 1996, Argentina when virus wasn't known and was discovered year earlier. So I asked you to provide specific source.

Earlier today I spoke with the doctor on the ship and he confirmed something. CDC messaging continues to say "prolonged, close contact" but that contradicts: 1) what's in the literature, and 2) what's happening on this ship. --> the doc told me a few who got infected/died DID have direct contact w/ very sick patient while treating them, but 3 who tested positive did NOT have direct physical or close contact - only shared time in a few spaces on the ship where people congregate (dining, lecture area)
Joseph Allen@j_g_allen

"close, prolonged contact" doesn't strike me as correct

@InnocenceInv @LeeCos84 @DrNeilStone "With hantaviruses, there's a deadend--a point where the transmission dies out. After three rounds of transmission which is the most we've ever seen, it doesn't go further." No exponential spread, short contagious timeframe, worry about some other scifi conspiracy BS idiot

@BishopBlougram @adgirlMM @smc429 Exactly, transmission still has to be relatively extended—we’re talking 10-15 minutes in close quarters, not just passing someone in a hallway. Its high lethality, combined with that need for sustained contact, is why we’ll see. It’s a biological bottleneck.
