How did you know? I told my patients to guzzle sugar! And you are wrong. Sugar, in and of itself, doesn't cause heart disease. However, saturated fat (and salt), in and of itself, can cause heart disease. Please talk to actual experts. Here's an in depth explanation: dralo.net/blog/sugar
Suneel Dhand MD@DrSuneelDhand

Today thousands of cardiologists rounded on their hospital patients and wrote in their notes how important it is to limit salt and saturated fat intake. Not one word about carbs and sugars causing insulin resistance and heart devastation. What’s wrong with these people!

@MohammedAlo In what context does sat fat cause HD? Eating it in its own/some meat, or combined with carbs?

@drterrysimpson I love oats but my joints hurt after eating them so clearly there is an inflammatory reaction in my body.

Oats, we are told, are unfit for human consumption—mere fodder for beasts and the poor—while somehow also possessing the sinister ability to inflame the body, spike the blood, and quietly rob one of essential minerals. It is an impressive résumé for a grain that has, for centuries, sustained entire populations in reasonably good health. One is tempted to ask: if oats are so ruinous, why do those who eat them tend, inconveniently, to live longer and suffer less cardiovascular disease? The answer, of course, is that reality is less obliging than rhetoric. The charge sheet collapses under the slightest scrutiny. The ‘blood sugar spike’ dissolves in the presence of fiber. The ‘inflammation’ exists largely in the imagination. The mineral argument—always delivered with great seriousness—wilts when confronted with the fact that most of humanity consumes grains daily without descending into deficiency. What remains is not a scientific argument, but a familiar performance: take an ordinary food, inflate a mechanism, and conclude—against all evidence—that abstinence is virtue. It is not oats that are the problem. It is the endless appetite for dietary heresy
Nutrition Doc@jason_muthomi

Why are so many people doing oats? • Oats are peasant foods • Oats are for fattening livestock • Oats spike your blood sugars • Oats are highly inflammatory • Oats lower absorption of zinc, iron, calcium & other minerals Don't eat oats. You deserve better.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read all day. Do you really think doctors don’t tell patients to “exercise and eat a healthy diet?” 🤦🏽‍♂️ The reality is, it’s far easier to adhere to taking a medication once a day than it is to go to the gym / for a walk and change your diet every day. Not to mention the social determinants of health that create barriers to healthy eating and exercise… but clearly this guy doesn’t have the capacity to understand these nuances.
Mike Matthews@muscleforlife

If doctors prescribed diet and exercise as zealously as they prescribe drugs, there would be a lot less chronic disease.

I eat this breakfast every day. I call it Lean Body Glop and it looks like slop but it tastes delicious. Recipe: - 250g low fat Greek Yogurt - One scoop weigh protein powder - Tablespoon of psyllium husk - 100g frozen fruit (strawberries, blueberries, mangoes work best) Around 350 calories, 40-50 protein, 10g fiber. Eat this for breakfast every day.

Carbs show us who has type 2 diabetes. But they don’t cause it. If they did, people who consume a diet with a higher % of carbs would be at increased risk. They’re not. Hypothesis discarded.

@ScottAppliedSci It’s carbs plus fat which is the problem. Ditch one of them, but ditching carbs is easier as high fat diet MUCH more satiating and easier to do a calorie deficit.

For the millionth time … media!!! No trans athlete is banned. They just need to play with others of the same sex as them. A male does not qualify for a category for females, anymore than an 17yr old qualifies for the under 10s

No disrespect to Chris, but I suspect that it is almost always and overestimate of their daily energy needs and/or an underestimate of their intake. There's another problem that I am not accusing Chris of: many people just say they stuck to calorie counting, but they're lying.
Chris S. Cornell@BiggestComeback

During the decades I struggled to lose body fat by focusing solely on CICO, I can assure you—the reason for my failure was never an inability to accurately count calories. I suspect obesity is very rarely a problem of poor measuring or math skills.

@VeganSupremeTM @CptTristanMarik Stop perpetuating the vegan myth that humans ever survived on b12 from dirt. It’s BS. Before b12 supplements were invented, only a few decades ago, humans had to get b12 from eating animal produce. And to dispel the other lie you spout, cattle are not routinely supplemented b12.

@CptTristanMarik It comes from untreated water and soil. The animals we eat don't produce B12, just like we don't. Not only that, but the animals people eat are likely given B12 supplements.

Just did a consultation with a young type 1 diabetic, 30 years old, diabetic since 9 years of age Developed significant retinopathy in his eyes and now has gastroparesis His A1C runs around 7.2 which his endocrinologist is ok with, because he’s a type 1 and it’s pretty typical for them He does not want him going on a low carb diet because it’s “dangerous” FFS!!!
