@MssCee @davidfrum The proposal was not officially answered. That doesn't sound like the Us reneging/rebuffing on a deal. Sounds more like they never took the deal. But to be fair I don't really care to change your mind, if you want to say historically go right head. I just don't think that's true.

If you wonder why Europeans flinch from helping US in Gulf - in January, NATO allies were seriously preparing for a US sneak attack on Greenland, planning to blow up runways to prevent a Trump re-enactment of Putin's failed strike on Kyiv.
Orla Joelsen@OJoelsen

Denmark prepared for a possible U.S. attack: Flew blood supplies to Greenland and planned to blow up runways Key sources in Denmark and Europe are now revealing for the first time what happened during the most critical days, when Donald Trump threatened to take Greenland “the hard way.” When Danish soldiers were rapidly deployed to Greenland in January this year, they brought explosives with them. The plan was to destroy runways in Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq to prevent American military aircraft from landing troops on the island, should the U.S. president ultimately decide to seize Greenland by force. They also transported blood supplies from Danish blood banks so wounded personnel could be treated in case of combat. This is reported by DR, which over the past year has spoken with central sources in the Danish government, top military officers, and high-ranking officials and intelligence sources in Denmark, France, and Germany. All sources have played—and continue to play—key roles in the international crisis triggered by the United States’ demand for control over Greenland. Together, the sources describe an unprecedented year marked by sleepless nights. None of them had concrete intelligence of specific American attack plans against Greenland. Still, many feared in January that the historically important ally, the United States, could attack at any moment. At the same time, Denmark reached out to its European allies, leading to closer cooperation. “With the Greenland crisis, Europe realized once and for all that we must be able to handle our own security,” said a French senior official involved in the intense period. A rapid-response force consisting of Danish, French, German, Norwegian, and Swedish soldiers was first deployed to Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq. Shortly after, a main force followed, including: -Soldiers from the Danish Dragoon Regiment in Holstebro -Elite troops from the Jaeger Corps -French alpine troops trained for cold and mountainous warfare At the same time, Danish fighter jets and a French naval vessel were sent to the North Atlantic. According to several sources, the goal of having multinational troops on the ground was to ensure that any U.S. attempt to take Greenland would require a large-scale hostile action—thereby deterring such an attempt. “We have not been in such a situation since April 1940,” said a Danish defense source, referring to the days before Denmark’s occupation during World War II. Unlike in 1940, when Denmark chose not to resist militarily, the government and defense leadership this time decided—after extensive confidential discussions—to take the opposite approach: If the U.S. attempted an attack, Danish forces would be armed and ready to fight. Danish F-35 fighter jets deployed north were also fully armed. All this despite the understanding that Denmark could not realistically withstand a U.S. military attack. “The cost for the U.S. had to be raised. The U.S. would have to carry out a hostile act to take Greenland,” said a senior Danish defense source. Source: DR

What about in our previous lives circa 1850, when your finger got cut off at the weaving factory and you came home without your 3pence pay, what happened then? Not much worse then meatballs in cream of mushroom soup gravy melting into creamed corn with a boiled potato to clog up your throat. I still love my mom though.

It’s really tough to get a foothold in the market right now. Housing is something we need to fix, but so much of it falls under provincial and municipal oversight. BC has tried to make some significant changes to address. There have been significant periods that have struggled with housing in Canada. After WW2 for a number of years, up to the 50s/60s all of the boarding houses provided people with only rooms. The cost to provide a unit of housing is incredibly high (before Covid, I read a report that calculated a 2bdrm condo/apartment in Vancouver area would cost $500,000 NOT INCLUDING land costs.

We settled for a lot less back then. We didn’t buy homes until much later in our lives. On one income. We crammed larger families into smaller homes with one bathroom. We only owned one car and people didn’t make the wages they do now. Stop this entitled whining bullshit.
Bitcoin Teddy@Bitcoin_Teddy

Older generations say “we all struggled in our 20s.” No, you didn’t. You didn’t pay $3200 for rent and $10 for eggs. You didn’t graduate into $50K student debt and $0 job security. Gen Z isn’t dramatic. They’re drowning.

@merry123459 When my dad was a kid, his friend lived with his mom in an 2 bedroom apartment. She had a “good” job as a telephone operator. She worked graveyards, so at night she rented out her bed to two of her younger colleagues to share. 1950s

BREAKING: Trump’s ICE just threw a 7-year-old Canadian girl with autism and her mom into one of their worst prisons for NO REASON WHATSOEVER! Edward Warner, an American citizen from Kingsville, Texas, was driving home with his Tania Warner and their daughter, Ayla Lucas, from a baby shower when all of a sudden they were stopped at a border patrol checkpoint and demanded to see their papers. Tania showed them her Texas driver’s license, work visa, and actual visa, informing the goons that she was a Lawful Alien Allowed to Work, as Tania is originally from British Columbia. “I presented mine and she presented her Texas driver’s licence, her work visa and her actual visa,” Edward, who is American, told CTV News. “After that, they took her in, saying that they needed to fingerprint her to get more information, and she never came back out.” The goon squad said there was an “error” with Tania’s Employment Authorization Document and needed to send their fingerprints to Border Patrol headquarters in Washington, who refused to let them go. “It’s scary, it’s really frustrating, especially when they have paperwork that’s good, and it doesn’t come up in the system as being good. It didn’t come up as having paperwork at all,” said Edward to the Canadian media. Tania and Ayla were thrown into the gulag at the Rio Grande Valley Central Processing Center in McAllen, Texas, a site notorious for housing little kids in chain-link cages during Trump’s first term. “It’s no place for a seven-year-old to be,” Edward said. “They’re using, like, space blankets in order to cover up. She’s having to use the mat from the floor to get a proper cover to keep warm. This food is terrible … it’s overcrowded, very loud, and they’re just very stressed out right now,” he said of what he’s hearing from his family, adding that they’ve only been able to have two short phone calls a day. This is what happens when you build a machine designed to incarcerate people for profit with no regard to the law or to basic human decency. There’s a private prison company making a fat profit off of locking up this poor little girl and her mother and an evil bald man in the White House, Stephen Miller, ordering the Border Patrol to fill quotas of arrestees, no matter who they are or whether they deserve to be thrown into a disgusting prison, served mouldy food, and forced to sleep under bright lights on piss-soaked floors. Tania and Ayla and every other innocent child in these camps need to be freed, IMMEDIATELY, and their cells filled with the men responsible for this absolute miscarriage of justice.

And do you see any Dems extolling those attributed quotes? If you are interested in Lyndon Johnson, I recommend the Rest is History podcast on 1968. It’s compelling story telling about a year that saw Johnson resign, both RFK and MLK assasinated, riots at the Democratic convention in Chicago. Johnson was a bully, and pretty problematic. He also managed to pass the Civil Rights Act; one of the most landmark pieces of US legislation.

The repeatedly "killed" by Iranian propagandists Netanyahu made important statements about the war Here’s the key: 📌 Iran will no longer be able to enrich uranium or produce missiles. 📌 We have destroyed the entire Iranian fleet in the Caspian Sea. 📌 Iran is trying to blackmail the world by closing the Strait of Hormuz. It won’t work. 📌 The IRGC guards won’t last long. 📌 They say that Israel somehow dragged the U.S. into the conflict with Iran. Does anyone really think someone can tell Trump what to do? Come on. 📌 It’s still too early to say whether the Iranian people will take advantage of these conditions — we’re working to make that happen, but in the end, it will depend solely on them.
