Excellent meeting this afternoon with my friend Nasser Bourita, the highly respected and insightful Foreign Minister of Morocco. We discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues, and I reaffirmed US recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and support for Morocco’s Autonomy Proposal as the basis for a just and lasting solution. I was delighted to witness Morocco’s accession as the 64th member of the Artemis Accords, which promote responsible space 🚀 exploration. Our two nations have been friends for almost 250 years, and I’m honored to reaffirm that friendship here in Morocco. 🇺🇸🤝

Excellent conversation between Foreign Minister Bourita and Deputy Secretary Landau. We discussed opportunities to deepen our enduring 250 year relationship across all sectors. U.S. businesses are ready to support King Mohammed VI’s vision for Morocco’s future, including in the Sahara. We reiterated the United States recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Western Sahara and reaffirmed support for Morocco's serious, credible, and realistic autonomy proposal as the only basis for a just and lasting solution. The time for peace and prosperity is now.

🇲🇦🇺🇸 جددت الولايات المتحدة، اليوم الأربعاء، تأكيد “اعترافها بسيادة المغرب على الصحراء”، ودعمها للمبادرة المغربية للحكم الذاتي باعتبارها “الأساس الوحيد لحل عادل ودائم” لهذا النزاع. وأكد نائب وزير الخارجية الأمريكي “دعم الولايات المتحدة للمقاولات الأمريكية التي ترغب في الاستثمار والقيام بمشاريع في الصحراء”. وخلص المسؤول الأمريكي إلى أن “الولايات المتحدة تعمل بشكل حثيث مع الأمم المتحدة وكافة الأطراف، في إطار القرار الأخير لمجلس الأمن (القرار 2797)، من أجل التوصل إلى حل “لهذا النزاع الذي استمر لمدة غير مقبولة”، مضيفا أن “الحل لا يمكنه الانتظار إلى ما لا نهاية”.
