During a dangerous ice storm in North Carolina, gas station owner Hitesh Patel was supposed to close at 10 p.m. Instead, he kept his store open all night so stranded travelers would have a warm and safe place to stay. Among those sheltering inside were a young mother traveling with four children and other motorists who could no longer safely drive on the icy roads. One traveler later shared the story online, saying they would have been freezing in their car if not for Patel's kindness. Sometimes the people who make the biggest difference are the ones who quietly choose to help when others need it most

@park1996 @Anthony__Koch My family has been in the US a long time and those kind of things don’t usually don’t get repeated by the generation born and raised here. Also I’m sure there is no shortage of illiberal white Canadians, many of whom also hate immigrants.

@ProIndianPR @Anthony__Koch My concerns are mainly about the disrespect of liberal democracy values. For example, I see way too many Chinese speaking immigrants being anti-SOGI and anti-sex ed. I am just worried it weakens protections to LGBTQIA+ people.

@park1996 @Anthony__Koch Integration and assimilation takes time it’s not immediate. They might not adopt exactly to Canadian identity but they will form a new one. Just as Irish or Italian immigrants that moved to America became American but they became a new kind. Irish American or Italian American.

Media consumption is a huge problem, be it 24 hour tv news or social media on your phone. It’s one of the worst things for you. I had to cut off my mother in laws cable because she was convinced that the govt was going to give her home to foreigners and make her live in a shipping container 🤣

@SKivimaa @ProIndianPR And in due time people stopped sitting out front. They stopped going to church because they wanted to do other things and church just seemed irrelevant or a burden. TV and computers gave people plenty to do on their own inside. Nothing to do with immigrants or government.

@nailedvision @SKivimaa I’m not particularly religious myself but I’ve chosen to raise my children as believers for this reason. We gave up god because we thought we were mature enough to not need religion anymore and turns out most of us were not.

Consumerism became our religion, but that doesn't work very well for those at the bottom. If government policy made it worse..

I swear to you that I’ve hear almost the same exact complaints as that from my relatives in India. 🤣🤣 First ask yourself if things are actually worse, I hear the same thing about life in America yet when I go outside I don’t see it. We all have to be on guard against the effects of media. How much of what you think and believe is your own ideas and how much of it was planted in your mind by others?

Do you actually live in Canada? We used to have tight knit communities. We didn’t they used to have drug overdoses continually. We didn’t used to have riffraff patrolling the downtown of every major city and every minor city. Garbage covers the streets. The middle class can’t afford to live. This is not due to immigrants. It’s due to mass immigration among other government policies.

The roughly 24k older immigrants coming are not creating the pressure. If their children work in healthcare they lessen it.
