@AnnaLeptikon "Shooting animals for fun" is one of the main reasons there are still mega-fauna in Africa. It's not my vibe, but game hunting is one of the more virtuous hobbies, methinks. It's acknowledging the predator instincts that made us who we are. Integrating the shadow and all that.

@AskYatharth @made_in_cosmos Wonder how we diverged on neoplatonism so much with such strong Hesychast and also Sufi alignment

I dont get the hate that artificially sweetened drinks like coke zero get I think a lot of people just have a sort of assumption that there's 'no free lunch' and something can't taste good while being 0 calories, which is just wrong. look at vaccines!

When I ski top to bottom at Steamboat I go from red coded to blue coded back to red coded in the span of a few minutes
Seth Largo@SethLargo

@Empty_America We've covered this. Between 3k-8k feet is Red Coded or mixed (mountain biking, dirt biking, day hiking). Between 8k-10k feet is EXTREMELY Blue Coded (ski slopes, backpacking, REI gear, many females). 10k+ feet is Red Coded or mixed again (climbing, scrambling, mostly dudes).

@xav_moss @panickssery Every tree in those woods was cut down by hand in the last 1-200 years

@panickssery Also people follow well-worn paths, if you're walking through the hills you're probably tracing the exact same steps as your counterpart 2,000 years ago. Just take a couple to the left and you're set.

The replies here misunderstand both how vast the wilderness is and how far 100 miles is See these 100-mile circles around San Francisco, Montauk Point, and even the Hague I've definitely stood in spots no one else has been very many times

@GWHayduke97 @panickssery I'd only risk it on impossible to reach ledges without climbing gear on a terrible route.

@panickssery If you had infinite chances, it would be easy, but the 3 chances makes it really hard. Also, most (though not all) currently forested land in the eastern US was farmed at some point in the 19th century.

@panickssery You misunderstand how much ppl get around. Every single tree you've ever seen is in place of a tree that was cut down by hand. And that's a fraction of the traffic.

crashed out bc my house was a disaster and my baby is teething or something and wouldn’t let me put him down all afternoon and fiancé cheerfully was like “okay give me 60 seconds” and then he finished an email, walked downstairs, put on 70s progressive rock, and cleaned everything up in an hour. i went outside and came back to find him windexing the coffee table. you need to understand that literally all women want is a man who fixes things.

@Thomasdelvasto_ Idk how anyone gets by with less than 2 big 4k monitors. Any time I'm tapping away from desk for more than an hour it feels so good to come back to

Gotta say at least at the moment, upgrading to a bigger monitor with better image for my home office seems like a huge jump in work satisfaction Anyone else noticed the same over a longer time period?

@VioletFlame23 I think they're indexed there somewhat but attempt to point beyond that: platonist answers proxy to embedded intelligibly. Liberal/classical proxies conscientiousness
