I think all animals, including humans, have a primitive hard-wired "us vs. not-us" mechanism. We humans sort the world by politics, race, sports teams, etc. and while I can understand the evolutionary value, it's a very crude tool. The best we can do is to be aware of it, and only accord it the limited value it deserves.

NEW: Eric Swalwell's congressional staff members have released a statement saying they are "horrified" by the accusations against him. Back in November, Swalwell bragged about his staff's endorsement, calling it the "most important endorsement." The staff says they "believe" and "stand" with their former colleague. They also noted that "any decision of staff members to remain in their roles in the interim should not be viewed as support for Eric Swalwell.” "We stand with our former colleague, and the other women who have come forward," the statement said, according to Politico. "We believe you should stand with them, too. The behavior detailed in these reports is abhorrent, beneath the dignity of those serving in public office, and betrays the trust of all Californians." "As leaders of teams working for Eric Swalwell, we’re horrified by the recent reporting in the San Francisco Chronicle and by CNN." The statement was unsigned but was attributed to about a dozen staffers.

After George Floyd’s murder in 2020, billions were pledged to support Black communities, but new data shows much of that funding was short-lived, fleeting, and never reached smaller Black-led nonprofits. Our communities were promised transformation, not empty transactions. thegrio.com/2026/04/08/fun…

Dear @SenRickScott in 1939 Britain stood alone against Nazi Germany. The US only joined the war when it was attacked at Pearl Harbour. The Soviet Army did the heavy lifting which saved us all from speaking German. Do avail yourself of something called a 'book'.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Rick Scott: "Europe would all be speaking German if it wasn't for the American service members and what we did to save their butts in the second world war. For them to not support what we're doing in Iran is foolish. So NATO is gonna have to change."

It’s low cost power when the wind is blowing. Since that is unpredictable, more reliable energy sources have to be operating continuously, which makes them an added cost. If wind and solar worked as advertised, they’d already be used exclusively everywhere. It’s old tech that’s been around for ages.

@triffic_stuff_ This is just dumb. Fact is, in the right areas it is very low cost power. That’s a good thing. Even morons benefit from low cost power. Don’t see any issue with putting millions of tons of carbon in the air? Really?

Ever seen the insane effort it takes to “build green”? Just watch how they pour a SINGLE wind turbine foundation: 600–1,000 TONS of concrete, massive excavation, endless rebar, and heavy machinery tearing up the land for days. And that’s only the base. The blades? Made with balsa wood stripped from the Amazon rainforest, straight-up deforestation in the name of “saving the planet”. Then add: • Concrete • Carbon fiber • Steel • Cast iron • Copper • Aluminum • Plus boron, chromium, cobalt, manganese, molybdenum, nickel & rare earth elements All mined, refined, and shipped with massive energy & pollution. These things last 25 years max. By 2050 the world will be drowning in 43 million tons of worn-out blades, that’s the weight of 215,000 locomotives headed for landfills (most can’t even be recycled). Oh, and here’s the rest of the ridiculous list: - They slaughter hundreds of thousands of birds & bats every year - They only spin when the wind feels like it (so we still need gas/coal plants on standby) - They chew up huge chunks of land and ruin views for miles - They’re noisy, expensive to maintain, and require giant subsidies to even exist This is “green” energy? We’re destroying rainforests, mining toxic rare earths, pouring planet-warming concrete, and creating mountains of non-recyclable waste… to fight climate change? It’s completely ridiculous. A multi-trillion-dollar environmental own-goal sold as virtue.

🇺🇸 Karoline Leavitt: The President has discussed it {the possibility of withdrawing from NATO} and will be discussing in a couple of hours with Secretary General Rutte. You may hear more directly from him. I’m not a US law expert, but doesn’t leaving NATO require either a 2/3 Senate vote or an act of Congress, not just one person’s decision?

@skumWgmi Boomers were given that ladder of success from the Greatest Generation only to pull it up after themselves. But Boomers somehow think their success was all their doing. I got mine! F*ck yours. Laughable. But mostly just sad. The world will be better off when they are gone.

Boomers are the first generation to enter adulthood richer than their parents and leave their children poorer than themselves. In human history that has never happened before. They didn't build the American Dream. They borrowed against it. Gen Z is paying the mortgage.

Hunter Biden says he’s drowning in debt — and doesn’t see a way out. “I’ve got, I don’t know, $14–$15 million in debt that I have no idea that I’m going to be able to pay off.” He points to massive legal fees, falling income, and mounting financial pressure. Biden also pushed back on the idea that his family has wealth to fall back on: “We have no generational wealth.”

Every BOOMER with this take should look up the job they had in their 20s. Find the median pay for that job NOW. If you went to college make sure to include the cost of student loan repayments NOW. Include the cost of insurance NOW. Then look up the EXACT SAME first house you bought and let me know if you can buy it NOW. OTHERWISE STFU ABOUT THE DISCUSSION
Lee in Iowa@Lee_in_Iowa

Boomer here. I bought my first house after ten years of saving like crazy. And the interest was 14.5%. I don’t know where kids got the idea that they were due a house and new car at college graduation, but that’s NOT how it ever was.

The point is that, until Obama, the country was primarily black and white, with Hispanics, Indians, Chinese, etc sprinkled in for seasoning. Then we let in Muslims en masse and 10% of Central and South America and the Muslims especially, want us to adapt to them instead of the other way around.

This house is near a nice elementary school in my area. In 1974, on a $12k teacher's salary, this home could easily be purchased for $18,700. In 2026, teachers make $55k. They can't afford a $485k house. Why don't boomers understand how bad it is out there?!

@Bigqadi hardly anyone makes the minimum wage but the point still stands, where I live in CA rent is roughly 2000 a month, if making about 18 an hour, minus about 30% for taxes, that's about 100 for an 8 hour day, rent takes 20 days of work.
