A very heartfelt statement here. One thing that always bothered me, the blackface re Northam and the Fairfax allegations never came up during campaign. It was surreal to have back to back blows like that. I have no idea why Fairfax accusers came out when they did, or why. Northam recovered, Fairfax never did. Tragic. It was not like Jay Jones last yr, though Dems either blew it or sat on it for primary. But at least that got aired before voting, mostly

Of course this headline is just horrible… and there’s no excusing murder and the devastation I’m sure these children will feel for the rest of their lives- but this blaring fleeting headline is NOT the whole story. When I heard about this crime and tragedy this morning I couldn’t help but wonder if any of Virginia’s smug and abusive political leaders even consider that political hit jobs (with fake allegations?) can have tragic consequences that often reveal themselves many years later. I don’t just feel bad for this family and these poor children today… I feel bad about the last several years of horrors these people must have all been living. Justin called me several times last year after what was done to me to encourage me not to give up. My understanding from speaking with him privately was that he was ruined by what he swears were total lies. When I did the reporter thing and called around, his close associates said he couldn’t find or keep steady employment and that things had been pretty rough. With what little influence I had at the time I told him try to help get the FBI investigation files released on his case- because he said they would clear his name. No one was interested in helping or in exposing the truth- whatever that might actually be. The accusations did their job. He was destroyed politically and his life and family didn’t matter. Verifying the truth didn’t seem to matter to anybody either- Except to him. Even when I thought I might have a plan to get the files released it was clear (in my opinion) that he was scared and crushed that the process and inevitable renewed headlines would destroy what was left of his life and family. What a living hell. Like all of you- I do not personally know the entire story about what happened in hotel rooms decades ago. I do not personally know who suddenly released damning ALLEGATIONS about sex and abuse right as this man was being considered as Governor. And I do not personally know the pressures and situation in the Fairfax home last night. But… I can tell you the cutthroats in Virginia politics and everyone who lies or gleefully attacks others over rumors and allegations that are unlitigated and unproven should check themselves today. In candor- for decades I have talked A LOT on TV and radio and on social media. I have been very rough with many people over the years but if you have listened to me I am often the LAST person to jump to a conclusion or be condemning because I have paused to make sure I know the facts and not just the allegation. I am determined not to lie about people and I know my public words have the power to help or harm. I wish others in Virginia had paused to think about that burden when it came to the case of Justin Fairfax. And now look what has happened….. I’ll talk a little more about this on my broadcast today at 1:30pm. But it all makes me sick on many different levels.

No Red flag laws allow an individual or individuals the ability to warn authorities of possible issues with a person who might due harm to themselves or others In theory, this makes sense However most red flag laws circumvent the 4th amendment and can cause great legal woes and financial costs to a person when they are unfounded

Former VA Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax just murdered his wife, Dr. Cerina Fairfax, before killing himself. Their teenage son had to call 911. The system ignored the red flags for years. Back in 2019, his political career collapsed after two different women accused him of sexual assault. The receipts from his marriage are even more chilling. Just this January, he tried to frame Cerina by calling the cops and falsely accusing her of assault. He only failed because she installed hidden cameras that proved he was lying. A documented abuser who finally lost control. Absolute monster.

A reasonable take. Slight pushback, I met Fairfax once too - Measured is close to correct word, but too much so. I don't know, that can bother me more than other people generally- But my vibe was not the best from our brief interaction- Not serial killer vibes, but just under authentic. I was also trying to remember the timeline today. It never made sense to me the blackface + the stuff on Fairfax never got aired before election. It always felt to me like right leaning folks leaked on Northam then Fairfax accusers came out to try to and stop him from becoming Gov? Or maybe extort him? I' speculating, its all still unclear. Anyway, Northam redeemed himself in my book, and I wanted him out at time.

I knew Justin Fairfax. Our paths crossed during my first run for the General Assembly. Every interaction I had with him was professional, respectful, and measured. What happened to him politically should make everyone uncomfortable—regardless of party. At the exact moment Ralph Northam was facing collapse over the blackface scandal, allegations surfaced against Fairfax that effectively ended his political future overnight. He was never charged. He was never prosecuted. And once his career was over, the allegations faded from public view just as quickly as they appeared. That pattern—unproven allegations surfacing at the precise moment someone is about to rise politically—is not new. We’ve seen it play out nationally with figures like Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas. Whether you believe those claims or not, the timing is always the same—and the damage is always permanent. Now we’re watching the aftermath of a life that, by any objective measure, was derailed in a matter of weeks. And the same political class that stood by—or benefited—at the time is now offering thoughts and prayers. That’s the part that ought to turn your stomach. If we’re going to be honest about accountability in this country, it has to cut both ways. Destroying someone publicly without due process, without proof, and without consequence is not justice. It’s politics at its worst. And it keeps happening because it works.

#JustinFairfax Responding to Qs—Only thing vaguely similar in VA politics is from 1981. Gov. John Dalton(R)’s top aide Larry Murphy shot his girlfriend, attacked her father, and then killed himself. Girlfriend and father survived.

The only person I've seen who may have been offended by the logo itself was @KeithOlbermann. Like the name, ok. Totally get it. Chief Wahoo in Cleveland? For sure also. Do people complain about KC logo or Atlanta in baseball?
Disco@discoque92

See, @kevinsheehanDC should have stopped his conversation at "maybe the old logo will return". Saying "it was never offensive" is priviliege personified. To say it was "never offensive" just to fit your narrative is ridiculous. There were many Native Americans that find the name offensive, and some that don't. But Kevin is in NO position to tell a group that doesn't look like him what's offensive and what's not. SMH

I get it, but you switched lanes on him there- His entire point was the logo was not considered offensive, compared to name in particular. Also, I've done some work on reservations, and seen the old gear worm proudly. I think they might bring back logo in some form at some point. Probably after new stadium is done.

On new uniform day, @kevinsheehandc is not giving up on Washington's old logo returning: "We'll keep pushing. I personally think it's not dead."

Lol. 58% of Mass attending Catholics defy Pope. Wonder how many use contraception too? Also, at lest for some, you'd think, they follow Jesus more than the Mass goers, hence why they're not going. Matthew 7:21-23; "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Kevin Roberts@KevinRobertsTX

A new CBS poll found that 58% of weekly Mass-attending Catholics approve of President Trump’s job performance overall. Not surprising, as these are the Catholics taking the faith seriously rather than just bearing the title. Catholics understand that President Trump is by and large getting the policy right.

The Dallas City Hall may be torn down and replaced with a sports arena and entertainment district. Good. I used to work in this building. The brutalist architecture and horrific, anti-human urban design surrounding it sucks the life out of a huge swath of downtown. I don't care what famous architect designed it. It's a bad building set within a bad plaza. Tear it down for something that actually contributes to the City.
