As we are seeing study after study about mental health challenges in young adults, one thing we should do is get rid of state-by-state licensing requirements. So if a kid goes to college in a different state, they can still see their own therapist they have a relationship with.

The American healthcare “consumerism” dream is really is a dystopian nightmare. Sick people don’t want to shop for healthcare like they shop for other services at the point of diagnosis. They just want to be cared for and get the right treatment at a reasonable cost.

I hate seeing the term “noncompliant” in medicine. A patient schedules an appointment, takes time off work, gets on the bus, navigates traffic, waits in the waiting room, pays a copay, and confides their deepest concerns in us and then we call them noncompliant. It’s not right.

I read somewhere recently that men are evaluated on their potential, but women are evaluated on their outcomes and I just cannot stop thinking about it

Now that I have a child, I am fascinated by the companies developing healthier food/formula (Bobbie, Yumi, etc.), as well as pediatric behavioural health. It's clear that parents put their kids first. So my sense is there will be new payers emerging outside of the consumer.

Also, puzzles (3D ones or non-traditional shapes) have been helpful for some.
