@OrMakeOne @TNOQuoProQuid I feel like HMS Surprise is where the series really hits its stride, when I introduce people to it I have them read 1, then 3, then Post Captain. I think it’s a better read once you sort of know who the characters are.

Master and Commander on iplayer if you've never seen it, and would like to see a film that doesn't bother with fripperies like "exposition" or "women having speaking roles"

@blucomazz @adamscochran Not true they clearly state in there rules, that not public information from anyone that’s involved in contract is not allowed. Like you can’t bet if your mom is involved in the contract. Or your friends. Obviously it’s not perfect but I could argue the same thing for stocks

Kalshi FINALLY calls out the BS lobbying. The insider trading and “death markets” people want banned are on Polymarket, which is based offshore in Panama. It is already *illegal* on CFTC regulated exchanges like Kalshi and the CME. It is SHOCKING we are still comparing offshore entities to those who spend **years** getting properly regulated. If you’re fed up with these illegal behaviors, we need to set the record straight on where they’re coming from or maybe run for office in Panama.

@CalvnHynh @adamscochran “Insider trading” in a “market” where you literally bet on any bit of information is meaningless. ANYONE could be “insider trading.” It’s as meaningless as counting cards.

@blucomazz @adamscochran I disagree because why is Dana white who’s pretty good at poker banned from like every casino in Vegas because he wins. And takes their money. While almost no one is every banned from prediction markets unless you are insider trading

@blucomazz @adamscochran You can’t say it’s gambling when pretty much every gambling company and casinos 🎰 make money when you lose and lose when you win. Prediction markets want you to win so you keep playing because they get a small percentage fee from every bet placed. Your buying contracts.

the real issue: congress is debating prediction market regulation while treating Polymarket and Kalshi as interchangeable. one is CFTC-regulated, the other operates offshore from Panama. insider trading enforcement, death market bans -- these already exist on regulated platforms. the policy gap isn't prediction markets. it's jurisdiction arbitrage.

Rule #2: No death markets. Not in the U.S. They’re illegal.

Not all prediction markets are the same. Some are regulated in the United States. Some aren’t. Kalshi is. Rule #1: We ban insider trading. And we enforce it.
