Been tracking and investing in Indian public markets for years now And specially in consumer sector, have also been listening to earnings calls and reading annual reports for years I don’t know if it is specific to India, but the kind of questions that most analysts ask the management for most companies are really poor. Either the analysts don’t understand business as well as they should or the questions are planted by the IR team Management gets away so easily by saying random things. One quarter they will say brand building is very important and hence marketing spends went up. 2-3 quarters later they will say efficiency in marketing led to better margins. One quarter they will say premiumization is focus. Next quarter they will say rural is focus. There is no consistency and the say vs do ratio is so poor No one asks them that you said so and so 2-3 quarters back, what is the update on that? Now with AI, i hope there is a tool which takes transcripts of all management earnings calls, all quarterly and annual reports wherever there is commentary and give an output that shows how much inconsistency exists and what the actual say vs do ratio is. And publish this score for all companies. In my opinion ,The quality of earnings calls will go up 10x if this happens P.S. There are exceptions that exist. There are great analysts and great management teams too

@AJITHVARDAN @DealsDhamaka Even with this logic, ₹50L remaining won’t really translate to a ₹32K EMI.... Anyway, I wasn’t really debating the buy vs rent decision — that’s a personal call. Just felt that framing it as replacing ₹40K rent with ₹32K EMI doesn’t quite add up....
