It’s hard to put in words our feelings and how the world changed in the last 24 hours… Days of dreaming, joy and excitement crushed by a 4pm call yesterday when a selfish and horrific act of hate and violence took the life of an individual who lived with the deepest embodiment of public service. Nancy Metayer’s life was stolen and headlines that were supposed to come today are now enveloped with tragedy and a life taken too soon. Heartache and grief have touched many, and for me, anger that one individual can literally take the life of a woman who was seeking to do more good, touch more lives and lead a charge of brining a community together. An unstoppable force doesn’t speak justice to who Nancy Metayer was and the legacy she leaves behind.
