@Jhonabarez @escobedev @SantiagoGastana Que pensamiento tan atrasador e inútil.

@QuoteNietzsche Nop, it’s shaped by our emotional being. Fear, empathy, shame is shaped by culture, traumas, experiences. Our rational self only analyzes the scenario, identify all the options, gets filled with nuance, but our emotions narrow the options by impulse so we can be decisive.

@LeadSat @CFC_Junior_ @MrBeast Also blue is only symbolic. Nothing happens if they win, outcome is unaltered. The button can be removed preserving the same dynamic. So in a game with just 1 button: you have the option to press the button to kill those who didn’t or not press it at all. Why would you press it?

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

@LeadSat @CFC_Junior_ @MrBeast Ok, you wanna fight? Eat this: Blue wins -> everyone parties. Red wins -> some people die. Blue mentality -> Let’s party 😀 Red mentality -> Let’s kill some people and blame it on them for exposing. Rap*st mentality -> Let’s r*pe some girls and blame it on them for exposing.

@corsaren In fairness, blue button is not required to exist since blue winning means nothing happens. so if you remove it, it becomes whether you press the red button to kill those who didn’t or not press it at all. Why would you press it?

Kinda interesting how hard blue lost here. Because, ya know, an absolute fuckton of 18 year olds are still gonna vote blue. I guess we stop caring about kids at 18? (In fairness, the question should shift your expectation of the outcome toward red, so you *should* vote redder)

corsaren@corsaren

BONUS ROUND: Every able-bodied, mentally cogent adult between the ages 18 and 80 must press a button. No children, no mentally handicapped. Reds live regardless; blues die unless >50% vote blue. No cheating this time. You don't know how people have voted so far.

@SwordMasterPub Actually, refuse to push any button is the same as voting blue. At the start everyone is alive. If blue wins that keeps the same. It’s like the blue button is not even required to exist. It’s just people choosing red and kill those who didn’t.

I presented the red vs blue button scenario to my wife and three children. I was not all that surprised at their answers, but the most interesting answer I received was from my middle child (the younger of twin 16-year-olds). She said, "I would refuse to push the buttons." We have talked about the trolley problem in the past and various iterations of it: Joker in Batman, Green Goblin and Spiderman, etc. In those scenarios, there was conversation about scripts and artificial outcomes written by authors as well as the ability to overcome the impossible situation because, well, superheroes are supposed to do that. That's what makes them super. But the lesson we talked about a lot was subverting the question, not allowing the premise itself. My daughter said that nothing was said about what happened if you didn't press a button so she would refuse to participate in such a stupid scenario.

@CodyLibolt @jwlecheminant You’re hiding the killing factor. No one is hunting for blues until people choose “safety”. In reality they’re choosing “hunt the blues”.

@TexasAnCap It’s not the same starting conditions, cuz everyone starts by not jumping in. As if everyone voted red and you’re asking them if they want to change their vote. It’s not the same.

Let's try a new prompt. Everyone is safely standing on the side of a raging river. If nobody jumps in, then everyone lives. If someone jumps in, the only way they survive is if over 50% of the people standing on the side of the river also decide to jump in. Do you jump?

@OrwellsNotebook Saving doesn’t exist, it’s not wanting to harm. There are 2 outcomes: Blue wins -> people party and hug each other. Red wins -> people are murdered. Retards -> Let’s murder the blues and blame it on them :D

@hate__criminal @YeaItsMeMilky If it were real, someone would have to kill the blues. People don’t die because they lose. Having to vote for an explicit killer put reds explicitly as the violent option, people wouldn’t go for that so blue will win even by a higher poll.

@muyhiram @get_dunk I honestly don’t get it. To me the only people who would press blue are those who want to die. By pressing red I’m giving them what they want? What is the imperative to press blue?

@TheTarch @chaitinsgoose It actually is the same. They’re just explicitly mentioning the killer, how do you think people die? The original game mentions blues are going to die, but someone has to kill them. And those are the reds if they win.

@chaitinsgoose This is not isomorphic to the original. In the original, it would be akin to electing the entity that foisted the dilemma on everyone in the first place. Resisting tyranny is much more obviously worth dying for.

@infe_____ @GardenMama22 @Echoez_of_tRuTh @MrBeast In real life it would still be context-dependent. The game has no context. Frame isn’t narrow enough. So people analyze by different focuses and interpretations. Like this: you’re electing between 2 leaders: 1 chill guy, 1 extremist that will kill every infidel if he gains power.

@escobedev @GardenMama22 @Echoez_of_tRuTh @MrBeast social cooperation only thrives when it brings undisputed benefit to all. When the matter is survival, it's in natural instincts to preserve one's self and in a real life scenario blue button would get 30% at most.

@LeadSat @CFC_Junior_ @MrBeast It’s just a game. The scenario allows multiple framings (these are not interpretations, they’re focuses: risk vs outcome vs responsibility vs trust), that’s why I said it doesn’t really have one. Just chill, people lose their heads over nothing.

@escobedev @CFC_Junior_ @MrBeast Interpretation is counterproductive as for example some may presume death as merely the next step towards reincarnation. I don't have the time to try and reinterpret what someone really means, if they want an specific question then can ask right the first time.
