@Camp4 Couldn't agree more! My "peak" is just on a mnt bike trail or a trout stream, but the feeling is the same. Money, accolades, success (all super fun) -- but nothing beats memorable experiences (outside) with people you love. The rest of it is just a means to get there.

Rock climbing is my regular reminder of how little I need to be happy. At 54, I’ve been to the mountaintop—both literally and figuratively—and I can tell you this: Being in nature with people you love *is* the peak. Life’s richest experiences cost nothing.

@businessbarista Have been using EOS to run co's since 2010 - total game changer. We've been using the same tools to help our family since 2016. Life changing decision. Pretty impactful to think intentionally about the longterm, write down the path to get there, and stay accountable abl

15-mile mtn bike ride completed today less than 20 minutes from our home in the City. We didn't drive to the country, we drove across the river to Theo Wirth park in @CityMinneapolis. When it's not hosting Nordic skiing world cups, it offers some awesome Mtn. Biking.

@blader Have been on so many teams where this was an issue.. scaling startups, 60person services co, 2500 person org with $1B in rev. All great companies, all had great finance teams.. None were this simple, fast and helpful. Kudos to solving a real problem (also, killer video)

we spent the last four years reimagining what finance can be, unburdened by what has been. runway makes clear the significance of the passage of time in the context of all in which your business lives and what came before you. this is the result 👇

@johnnyrodgersis Had 2 boxers with bad GI issues for years.. switched to a mix of raw/cooked chicken with added supplements) from Woody's Pet Deli in Minneapolis (woodyspetdeli.com/menu/) and had great luck for 4-5 years. Most stomach issues resolved, happy / hungry pups.

Dog owners: I’ve had two vets recommend moving off raw food (bacteria, imbalanced minerals, long term issues with stool). We do a half and half mix of raw and kibble based on breeder recommendation. What have you found? I’m inclined to follow the vet’s advice.

I bought a full page ad in today’s Wall Street Journal to announce the death of consulting. Why? Here’s an inside look at a secret project I’ve been working on for the past year with an extraordinary company (with lots of pics!) 🧵

AI songwriting and music making tools are amazing.. I've played with @suno_ai_ enough to be totally blown away. BUT, they will never give me the gratification or feeling that writing a song (from my head) does.. and/or the feeling I get when playing it with other real humans 🎸

The narrative on funding “services” is changing quickly. Once seen as low margin and high touch, now seen as a powerful wedge to building trust and selling future software products. emcap.com/thoughts/the-d…

@tobi It's a magical tool.. but as a songwriter/performer (that's also spent 20+ years in tech), it makes me both excited and sad.. Songwriting is magic - and this makes it more accessible to more ppl (good). But it's sad to see tech take even more $$ out of the creative arts...

Simultaneously excited about the potential of A.I. -- while also eternally grateful for spending time with real humans, creating things that A.I. can't (eg: memories, music from our brains, shared experiences).

I'M FEELING SPICY TODAY. I’ll say the quiet parts out loud for people into tech: 1. Memecoins are gambling. What is the difference between going to a casino and trading memecoins? 2. Corporate job security in is an illusion right now. Somehow it's more safe to be an entrepreneur with no health insurance than working at a mid-level job at Google. 3. No-one is talking about how Discord opened up their platform for apps a few days ago. All of a sudden you have access to their 200M users. Fortunes will be made. 4. The HEIC file format is a sham. If Apple had a heart, they would use JPEGs. 5. AI will put hundreds of thousands out of work. When I scroll through X, I see people saying there’s zero chance that AI replaces jobs, arguing “It will make them more productive.” I don’t think so. It’s not rocket science. If they are more productive, there will be less need for people. Those people will have other jobs. Am I missing something here? 5. People made fun of Mark Zuckerberg over the metaverse for like 2 years. Zuck was right. More and more interest in VR is coming from everyday people. More and more applications are becoming interesting. As soon as they stop looking just like “face computers,” that’s when it’ll take off. For now, reality is the ultimate “virtual reality.” Can we agree that Zuck was onto something with this metaverse thing? 6. Creators become the next presidents and prime ministers. We saw reality TV stars and celebrities become presidents—Trump, Schwarzenegger etc. Soon, creators will be too. Ron DeSantis spent $6,831 for every vote he received this year. Wild. If it cost Biden the same thing, and he gets as many votes as in 2020, he will have spent $550 billion dollars getting elected. Creators will be way more efficient at distribution than legacy politicians, for better or worse. 7. Every social app looks exactly the same. Like literally the same. It’s all short-form videos and algorithms optimized for time spent. There will be a breakout social app that looks nothing like what we’ve got going on right now and it's going to be glorious. 8. Workshops are the new webinars. Most people don’t realize they are subscribing to a bunch of newsletters by signing up. 9. VCs are in soul-searching mode. Founders are realizing they could bootstrap 99% of the startup ideas they have. Prices of deep tech, clean tech, medical device, and AI chip companies are set to skyrocket as VCs look to fund capital-intensive businesses. 10. The average founder of a GPT wrapper company will make more money than the average venture-backed AI startup. The talent war among venture-backed AI companies is fierce. If you can keep your GPT wrapper startup really niche and under 5 employees, you’ll probably do well. ChatGPT is getting unbundled, and unbundled fast. 11. Building a newsletter business isn’t much of a startup. I love building newsletters; it’s way easier but virtually zero “product risk”. 12. You’d be surprised how many startups spend millions of dollars a year of other people’s money trying to scale a business without a dialed offer. 13. ‘Clean’ has become the new ‘fat-free’—a marketing masterstroke. From food to cleaning products, this label has captured the hearts of health-conscious consumers. It’s not just about the quality of the products; it’s about the brilliance of branding. 14. You’ll swap LLMs like you change your clothes. People think ChatGPT will be the next Google, but the reality is the next Google will be spread out among hundreds of LLMs. LMK where you violently agree or disagree with me. What am I missing? Your friend, @gregisenberg (toss me a follow for more hot takes) -- 4 bonus hot takes on my newsletter (subscribe, you won't regret it). You'll get free startup ideas. gregisenberg.ck.page/posts/you-asked

Who's building the verification platform where real humans can (a) verify something is actually them, and (b) prove that it was created by humans? In the future, I want to know when ppl like @JasonIsbell actually wrote a song and played/recorded it - and verify it's not fake.
omid@omidaziz

I built a mobile app that generates short episodes of popular shows, starting with @theallinpod. Prompt: @DavidSacks is building a Slack competitor but won't let @Jason into the round. @friedberg gets lost in his Vision Pro. @chamath spills wine on his new sweater. Sound on 🔊

As much as I've been frustrated by the state of the internet lately, today is not one of those days. Spending the day remote drum tracking with a killer team 1/2 way across the US, making a new record. Using the internet to make great art, with real humans. #goodday
