@FerAlcala_S @Marcodmeatball I understand but it’s up to you to set the boundaries. It can be costly” but you keep your integrity. It might create isolation, discrimination even... If you reject, they reject. But , trust me, there are people out there that need you for what you are and do.

@oderiviere @Marcodmeatball From my perspective as a professional writer, the moment you make “art” your work, a different and less idealistic world opens for you. Too many forces pulling from you and your creative instincts to many opposing sides…

For years, players have pointed out the lack of “hit games” in my portfolio. Just know this: - No one can predict whether a game will be a hit - I’m proud of every game I’ve worked on - I’ve spent a long career making the best music I can with world-class musicians #NoRegrets

Olivier Deriviere is such an interesting guy, he makes some great pieces of music but he seems to be stuck in a maze of getting only offers from niche/mediocre games apart from plague tale which from what ive seen is actually well made all around

@oderiviere The ost for ObsCure elevated the game and made it rememberable. Loved the child choir, very unique!

@CasteloPZ I don’t think it was his intention at all and I respect his opinion. But once again it depends through which lens you are looking into.

@oderiviere Thank you. Sometimes we need to be more firm with people who doesn't know how to behave in society. Streets Of Rage 4 for an instance is one of the best beat em ups with an AMAZING soundtrack . This guy can find a good game even it was hitting him in the nuts.

@oderiviere Listening your music since Alone in the Dark (2008), every game, every album. 🎵 Knowing that you've been working on a game is enough for me to play it. 😎 #NoRegrets

One more thing to add to an imposter syndrome trigger. @oderiviere is still in discussions about the forefront of interactive scoring for me and it has nothing to do with the popularity of the games. The work speaks for itself.

@pwlot I agree with you but it's a matter of perspective. I feel very lucky to have been working on my games but none got the attention that the big hits get. I don't really care but one of my best work is on South Of Midnight and very few people heard of it, even less played it.

@Marcodmeatball Definitely. That's why I don't understand people saying "I want to become a composer." You are already are. Being a composer don't equals making money out of your art. Now, "I want to have a career in games, movies, ads. theatre..." is a very different perspective.

@oderiviere I think people forget that being a working musician is an immense privilege sometimes. Being able to "make the doughnuts" with music is an insane gift.

@oderiviere I haven't played a single game you've composed that I didn't love. Particular standouts for me were Dying light: The Beast and a plague tale.

@headspaceastro2 Most people don't know what games I've made music for. #1 reason they haven't played most. #2 they don't look up who made the music. I wish more people would have played some of my games but I don't mind if they know my name or not.

@oderiviere I still love your music for Remember Me, the music was one of the best parts of the game, along with the parisian cyberpunk atmosphere. And I wouldn't call Streets of Rage 4 "mediocre". Probably one of the best beat'em ups of all time.

@MBulteau I know... But I think you need to abstract yourself from the outcome of what you don't have control over. Make your best, every time, give it all, you will grow, you will fail, you will succeed, you will have no regrets.

@oderiviere Even IF the game is mediocre, you can not say that your music did its best to raise the level of quality when it comes to enjoyment of this piece of art.

@MBulteau That and to be completely honest, people get interested, attached to music not because of its inner qualities (if any) but because of the association with a hit game and the emotional attachment that came with it. It's NEVER about the music, it's ALWAYS about the game.
