“If KLM in Netherlands is flying 28 flights a week into India because of the [size of] the Indian market, and on the other hand the Indian operators such as Air India only get like seven flights, and [there is] nothing or just a handful of slots for IndiGo at Amsterdam’s Schipol, then there should be some balance,” Pieter Elbers Well said, Pieter Elbers. I totally agree, and I'd extend it to other areas and include the Middle East. thehindu.com/business/indig… Note there is precedent for this, the 2007 Air India Malaysian Airlines London Heathrow slot deal. airliners.net/forum/viewtopi…
Rishi Jain@rishiviate

If a foreign airline or its home airport is prohibiting Indian airlines/carriers from effectively competing, then: "Indian airlines/carriers must stand up for themselves, and be creative with their demands; asking for things in return, once they said airline/carrier or country exceeds a basic number of flights" Slot hoarding at foreign airports like London Heathrow or hogging new aircraft could also count. Otherwise, Indian airlines/carriers will not become global supercarriers. Note: This is the 21st Century, and world dynamics are changing. Particular countries don't yield the power they once did.

@SpaethFlies @airindia @IndiGo6E There may be a deeper reason, however Indian carriers are certainly NOT unmanageable. With Air India delayed widebody refits are a major issue effecting yeilds.

Is there a deeper reason two highly respected global #airline heavyweights left their CEO jobs in #india in less than a month? Are Indian airlines unmanageable? Best of luck to Campbell Wilson and Pieter Elbers, they tried hard @airindia and @IndiGo6E #avgeek

@lockhidmartinez Wont work. Ideally, if not an Indian or NRI, it needs to be someone with serious North American or UK experience.

@rishiviate If they can get Turkish Airlines CEO it would be great. Politics aside, Turkish Airlines is one of the biggest and best connectors in the world. They have flights to more countries in the world than anyone else.

Any ideas on who Campbell Wilson's successor might be? He has done a lot of the heavy lifting at Air India, will be a lot easier for the next incumbent. It needs to be someone who can take the fight to the Gulf Carriers.
Mint@livemint

Air India chief executive Campbell Wilson has stepped down from the helm of India’s second-largest airline, and is currently serving his notice period, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said. livemint.com/companies/news…

@rishiviate Don't hire based on LinkedIn profile. They have to pay lot more than $900,000/year. You will only get a fake resume CEO for that salary.

@ShreyNarang AIESL, not really, it's the B777 and B787 refits that they need. Pakistan airspace, possibly.

@rishiviate Things would have been totally different if Pakistan's airspace hadn't been closed & them having control of AIESL. It's really sad to see him exit so early after everything he's contributed.

Effective 3rd April, till the End of April, Air India's Flights from San Francisco to New Delhi will Halt for Refuelling at Seoul instead of Kolkata 🇮🇳🇺🇸🇰🇷 Likely Reason is the New ATF Prices for International Flights in India. Also, SFO-DEL drops to 7x from 10x for the period.

It's April Fool's Day, but this is NOT a joke. Today, we announced significant enhancements to our Maharaja Club loyalty programme, rolling out progressively starting today. These updates bring lower redemption levels on 90% of all routes we serve, greater flexibility on rescheduling or cancelling Award Flights, reduced flight‑count thresholds for faster tier progression, extended privileges for our Platinum and Gold members, and more. Reform UK (Nigel Farage) have announced that if they win the next general election, they would: Scrap Air Passenger Duty on short-haul and domestic flights for adults travelling with children under the age of 18 UK Air Passenger Duty needs urgent, major reform, and ideally, scrapping altogether. It does not work. So, a very welcome policy move. youtube.com/watch?v=feynTy… #APD #AirPassengerDuty

I have always held that Mr. Walsh was eminently suited to be CEO of an Indian carrier. Except I felt it would have been @AirIndia not @IndiGo6E. But expect him to help continue to transform Indigo into India’s international carrier.

A good article on the opportunities the Middle East crisis presents BA, for those with a Daily Telegraph subscription. telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/… Note noted UK aviation consultant John Strickland view: He said: “BA can do well in the India-Europe market, which has come to rely on the Gulf, tapping into connections with the UK and the size of the diaspora. “Australia, too. They once operated two Boeing 747 jumbos a day to Sydney; now it’s one 777 or an even smaller 787. So there’s scope there.” However, Strickland warned that a lack of spare flight slots at Heathrow means BA would struggle to offer the connections needed to stage a serious assault on the provinces. Proves yet again: 1. The direct UK-India market potential that's leaking through 3rd-country airlines. 2. The slot issue at London Heathrow, which the UK government is not addressing. #Indiaaviation #britishairways #ukindia
