Really impressed with how #RecursiveInscriptions are transforming #Bitcoin data storage! @degenom works similarly, using reference genomes when uploading new ones. Just like recursion, the aim is to leverage repeated data for optimal compression. This is not only about saving millions for large collection users but also about drastically reducing Bitcoin's ecological footprint. A huge step towards a sustainable digital future! The continuous innovation in the Bitcoin ecosystem has made it the powerhouse of the cryptocurrency space. Its decentralized nature and security features have made it the first choice for many developers and investors. However, with the advent of Recursive Inscriptions, we are witnessing an entirely new dimension of potential within the Bitcoin network. The idea behind the Ordinals Protocol, introduced by software engineer Casey @rodarmor, was revolutionary in its own right. Offering a means to inscribe data on the most fundamental unit of Bitcoin, satoshis (or sats), opened a new avenue for data storage on the blockchain. This innovative step was akin to the concept of #NFTs but remained entirely on-chain, a feat that holds significant implications for blockchain-based file storage. The Recursive Inscriptions, as an extension of this concept, offer the ability to maximize the utility of the 4MB data storage capacity of each Ordinal. Instead of being restricted by this capacity, Recursive Inscriptions allow for a network of interconnected data points. Essentially, they transform the once-capped silos of data into a vast interconnected web. This dynamic change has given developers the ability to run software entirely on-chain, leveraging the power of Bitcoin's decentralized network. One of the most fascinating use-cases has been demonstrated by projects like @OnChainMonkey. They have managed to inscribe a range of data packages on Bitcoin and then utilized recursion to call upon these packages to create captivating 3D art with a minuscule digital footprint. This method of recycling stored data could revolutionize how data is stored on the Bitcoin blockchain, paving the way for more extensive files, from video games to films, to be stored directly on-chain. Furthermore, Recursive Inscriptions could redefine the landscape of contract-based solutions on the blockchain. The ability to create permissionless contracts, relying on Bitcoin's robust storage, without introducing new cryptographic measures, is monumental. Developers can harness the data from existing inscriptions, overcoming the current storage limit. As with all advancements, Recursive Inscriptions has not been without its detractors. The reliance on Rodarmor’s Ordinals theory, which is not inherently a part of Bitcoin’s core architecture, has raised concerns. Some believe that this could lead to arbitrary changes steered by a centralized group, jeopardizing software functionality or misaligning file storage hashes. The long-standing apprehension about data storage requirements and transaction fees also looms large, especially as the popularity of Recursive Inscriptions grows. The arrival of Recursive Inscriptions marks a pivotal moment in the annals of Bitcoin's rich history. While the future remains uncertain and challenges inevitable, the potential benefits of increased interoperability and enhanced storage efficiency are undeniably appealing. As the Bitcoin community navigates these new waters, it is clear that the saga of blockchain technology is far from over, and Recursive Inscriptions is poised to pen its exciting next chapter. 🌍💡🔗 #DigitalSustainability #GreenBlockchain

Recursion! Why should I use it? Let's use the Fomojis 2.0 as an example to see the power of recursion! Fomojis 2.0 is 2009 supply. Before recursion it would’ve cost us 4.85 BTC to inscribe. With recursion it only cost 0.19 BTC Saving 4.66 BTC ~ $140,000 USD How? Magic 👇 Here’s the comparison of regular images vs HTML using recursion at a fee rate of 21 sats/vB which is what we inscribed at back in June 1024 x 1024 px WEBP images - 4.85BTC! HTML at same quality with recursion - 0.19BTC! These HTML inscriptions render basically the same as regular images and can be right click saved just like any image To get the files down to this cost without recursion would make them crazy blurry! Using recursion it was 96% cheaper and more efficient! This is why we built @generatord_ ! After inscribing Fomojis 2.0 we had heaps of people asking for help with recursion, so instead of helping them 1 by 1 we built a tool so anyone can do it for themselves. Why use GeneratOrd? The alternative to recursion is to inscribe each item in your collection as a separate image. Because images are large compared to HTML files, it's way more expensive. Without GeneratOrd: Fomojis 2.0 has 2009 images, and each is roughly 46KB. This results in a total size of the whole collection of 92.4MB. At a fee rate of 21 sats/vB, the total cost of inscribing all 2009 images would be around 4.85BTC! For most collections, this would be way too expensive. With GeneratOrd: Fomojis 2.0 has 170 different traits, each one is roughly 19KB. The total size of the traits is 3.23MB. The HTML files are 117 bytes each, and there are 2009 of them, resulting in an extra 235KB to inscribe. Finally, the metadata was 26KB, resulting in the total size of the collection being 3.5MB. At a fee rate of 21 sats/vB, this would only cost 0.19BTC! That is a saving of over 96% A saving of 4.66 BTC ~ $140,000 USD Note: These costs are purely the inscription fees, including padding its another 0.2 BTC in both cases because we use 10k padding (we’re old school) This is just 1 example… 21 sats/vb is high today, but in May that was low! The higher the fees and bigger the collection, the greater the benefit of using recursion will become Luckily fees at the moment are manageable, but next bull market recursion will be almost a must! If you’re keen to learn more or want to give it a go feel free to reach out 🫡 The other biggest barrier to Ordinals is the complexity so we’ve tried to make it super intuitive no matter what technical knowledge you have. And stay tuned for some fun examples and demos coming up soon 🧙

1/n🎉#RecursiveInscriptions! #Recursives is an exciting upgrade in #Ordinals Protocol that allows #inscriptions to draw data from previous inscriptions or a chain of inscriptions. This minor upgrade has the potential to increase composability and introduce a source of randomness.
