You are thinking about it the right way, “what creates real demand for $SURF”. We did not build Surf with a token paywall, because forced demand is fragile. You can earn yield without buying $SURF and that is intentional. Surf should win on performance first. $SURF demand comes from value accrual + access, not barrier to entry: 1) Value accrual (real bid, not hype) Surf charges a protocol fee on yield. 100% of that revenue is used to buy back $SURF from the open market. That is the demand. The more TVL and usage Surf has, the more buy pressure exists. 2) Alignment (users can get “fees back”) If you are letting Surf manage your capital and you stake $SURF, you earn staking APR plus benefit from the buyback flow. Over time, aligned users effectively get protocol fees returned back to them. That is how fund management should work. 3) Utility that scales with the roadmap Upcoming strategies will require Surf Leagues XP to participate. XP is earned by putting capital to work through Surf. So access to higher edge strategies goes to real users, not people who just show up for emissions. And candidly, this is one of those systems where early participation compounds.
