Until now, traders faced a clear trade-off: Use a centralized exchange for performance and give up custody, or use a DEX for self-custody and compromise on execution quality. Ekiden was built to remove that compromise. Our hybrid model combines both advantages through a three-layer architecture: 1. Off-Chain Performance We use an off-chain Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) and matching engine to deliver 5–15 ms execution latency. This allows for high-frequency trading and deep liquidity. 2. Rollup-Like Scalability Orders are compressed into Merkle proofs. This “rollup-like” design lets us process massive volume off-chain while anchoring the integrity of every trade to the blockchain. 3. On-Chain Settlement While matching happens in milliseconds, settlement remains decentralized. We post batched updates to the blockchain, so your funds remain in your control. With Ekiden, you don’t have to choose between performance and self-custody.

@ekidenfi The three layer split makes total sense from a frontend perspective too off-chain matching at 5-15ms means the WebSocket feed needs sequence validation and a resync algorithm otherwise the UI silently shows stale state Building exactly this from scratch this week Day 1 down

Congrats on the massive week @Chainflip 🔥 $155M volume, $4.15M single swap & record FLIP burn is insane. As a Frontend Web3 Developer specialized in DeFi UX, I’m loving how smooth your native cross-chain swaps feel would love to help push the UI even further intuitive lending dashboard, swap flow optimizations, or mobile-first experiences Happy to hop on #Web3 #DeFi #FrontendDev

Most realtime trading UIs shouldn’t manage WebSockets directly inside React components A cleaner approach is: WebSocket manager → event emitter → store → UI Keeps transport, state synchronization, and rendering concerns separated Learning a lot while building these systems

One thing I learned building against Hyperliquid’s websocket: Market data arrives as strings, not numbers At first it felt odd, but it makes sense: floating-point rounding in trading systems is dangerous Small implementation details reveal how serious trading infrastructure is designed

While building a reconnect manager for realtime trading UIs, I realized the hard part isn’t opening the WebSocket It’s handling: reconnect backoff stale subscriptions snapshot consistency React lifecycle cleanup message sequencing Trading frontends are really distributed systems wearing a UI mask

@JxyHelper Kimi looking at my 20% weekly usage: 'nah, you're done bro Frontend Web3 life: one minute you're shipping wallet connects, next you're staring at rate limit screens. Need higher RPM for real builders

What happens when a WebSocket drops mid-trade? Most UIs just freeze Building the fix live this week

Tomorrow: sequence gap detection + the resync algorithm This is where most orderbook UIs silently break and nobody notices. Building it right.

What I learned: Without backoff every client reconnects at the same millisecond after a server restart You DDoS(Distributed Denial-of-Service) yourself Formula: Math.min(30000, 500 × 2^attempt) + random jitter One line. Saves everything.
