A little more detail. I marked 4 of the 5 largest extinction events. Crossing the purple line shown in the diagram resulted in extinction events throughout Earth's past. This is about 5C from where we are today. If we cross that threshold, the feedbacks might become overwhelming.

@HayekRonald New Jersey might be looking green on the satellite this year, but the late frost following the early warming this year wiped out multiple crops (peaches, cherries). NY and PA were similarly impacted. Heat domes will impact other crops as well.

It’s real—but beneficial: NASA satellites prove CO₂ has greened the Earth massively & boosted crop yields. We’re exiting a geologic CO₂ drought. What we reject is the doomsday narrative + policies that ignore this while causing energy poverty killing 3M+/yr (WHO indoor pollution & cold deaths). Alarmists’ failed predictions & real harm deserve an apology. Check the record: this “hottest May day in 80 years” proves it was hotter before. Not unprecedented. Physics student: actual science welcomes skepticism, not ad hominem attacks. Broader data (Vostok cores, past warmer periods) shows CO₂ often follows temp, not leads. Prioritize abundant energy (nuclear included) over virtue-signaling cuts that hurt the poor most.

Scientifically CO2 is a greenhouse gas, so it increase/decrease will cause temperatures to rise/fall. But it doesn't. There is no relationship between CO2 and temperature anywhere in the scientific records. The IPCC reports are written by the bureaucrats - I once spoke via messaging to a scientist from a UK university during the writing of the an IPCC report, he told me the scientists, "hold the pens" but don't write the script.

The WG1 does contain good science. There has been selective gate keeping and the IPCC has had its own scandals. It does not show there is a problem with climate caused by CO2. The bureaucracy above it ‘processes’ the information to produce consistently alarmist advice for policy makers.

@lomaxx If you opened a Roth IRA for you and your spouse and put the max in an index fund each year in the Roth. After ten years you might have half your money in the Roth which you can withdraw tax free in a few ways. You could also help your kids add to their Roth- no estate taxes.

This is where the “tax the rich” crowd lose me. Say I earn 90k a year and in 2027 I inherit $200,000 I invest that $200k and after 10 years in the stock market it’s now worth $400k If I sell it and realise the $200k capital gain, what the govt and the “tax the rich” crowd are saying is that I should be taxed as if I make $290k every year. Now if I try and split that CGT income across 2 people I’m “greedy” and avoiding tax But if I sell down in 4x $100k lots over 4 years and minimise my tax, that’s ok and nobody bats an eyelid - but it’s the same principle.

Imagine that building a house by hand take 10 people Then somebody invent the shovel and now it takes 3 people What happens next? Do 7 people lose their job? No The number of houses increase by 3x Why? Because everybody wants more houses, one in the city, one at the beach, one in the mountains, etc etc The demand for houses is infinite. Now replace “shovels” with “AI” and “houses” with the “economy” and you will understand why there’s not gonna be any mass unemployment caused by AI

Just so you know. Boomers didn't have fast food. Except fish and chips. Boomers didn't have ready meals. Except Vesta beef curry. Look it up. Boomers didn't have colour TVs, front loading washing machines, central heating or holidays abroad. Boomers didn't have babymoons or baby showers nor did they go on stag or hen weekends. Boomers didn't go to restaurants. Except on birthdays. Boomers didn't have new clothes every year, every season. They made do and mended. But Boomers had a fabulous time in the 1960s to 1980s because people were friendly, respectful, dignified and hardworking. Boomers also had law and order and a judiciary who punished ALL criminals. Boomers were happy with their lot. Yes. I'm a Boomer. Just so you know.

@Mark___Taylor Hear me out. So I have a bad habit called KFC. With the app you can save a ton. In MA a $10 special cost me $20.. over the border in NH it dropped back to $10. Higher minimum wage has a huge impact. KFC isn't a career that you raise a family on, it's a starting point.

You’re delusional if you think current inflation is because of the minimum wage. You can’t hardly find a job for 7.25 an hour because inflation is so high nobody even offers it. I live in a low cost area and McDonalds is paying $12 an hour.
