The World Cup has turned America into a discovery channel for the rest of the world. And they are not handling it well. In the best possible way. Here is what they are discovering: Free public restrooms. Europeans pay every time. Free water at every restaurant. Just appears. Free refills. Coffee. Sodas. Iced tea. Unlimited. Free chips and salsa before you even order. Free warm bread with dinner. Ice in drinks like civilized people. Air conditioning everywhere. Not a moral debate. A fact. Parking lots attached to the actual place you are going. Drive throughs where the food comes to the car while you sit in it. Ranch dressing by the gallon. Tex-Mex that cannot be explained only experienced. Dental care that actually works. Buccee’s. There are no words for Buccee’s. Then they found the grocery stores. Five of them within one mile. Each one the size of an aircraft hangar. Burgers. Steaks. Brisket. Ribs. Pulled pork. Lamb. Veal. Every cut of every animal ever domesticated by human civilization available in one refrigerated aisle at ten in the morning on a Tuesday. The Germans stood in the meat section for forty five minutes. In silence. Processing. They finally understand why we do not have trains. We have roads wide enough for the cars we actually drive. Parking lots the size of small European countries. Airports in every city worth visiting. Why would we need trains. The Germans are taking ranch home by the bottle. The Dutch found queso and briefly lost the ability to speak. The Japanese are photographing HEB like it is the Louvre. The Czechs are weeping in West, Texas. Welcome to America. Everything is free, enormous, air conditioned, comes with chips, and has five grocery stores within a mile that will sell you any cut of any animal you have ever imagined. Write that down. 🦋

8 years today we waved Laura off on her adventures - she spent the summer after A levels working as an intern in the Chicago mid term elections. She had the time of her life and I’m so glad. I’m also glad she didn’t know what was waiting round the corner. Such a waste 💔

We are sad to share that our baby girl is no longer with us. I’m not sure how we live life without her. She was so special in a million different ways. Our hearts are hurting and I don’t think it’ll ever stop. Amelia Claire Samarrippas made Brooke & I parents. The first time I met her I knew my life changed. I was a girl dad 🩷 and would do anything I could to protect her, love her, and make sure she has anything she needs. She brought joy to so many people and was loved by everyone that met her. She loved to dance (didn’t matter where we were), her smile & laugh were infectious, she loved all the girly stuff like mom… wanted to do her make up with her, put on heels, always showing off her outfits, opening up Amazon packages… her bond with Brooke was something I’ll always cherish and Brooke has been such a great momma to her & Jase. Once we moved to Spartanburg I think we really were able to see her start to blossom into the most fun & loving sweet girl. She loved going to Daycare to spend the day with her teachers and friends. She loved to play outside, riding her bike, going on walks, and going to the park to slide or swing. She loved going to Wofford games and her favorite song was pump it up (which she automatically dances to). She loved ball and couldn’t wait to cheer on our team, dance, and loved to see Dada make eye contact and wave at her every game. More recently she became a big sister and was so proud of her baby brother Jase. She bragged to everyone about him, constantly wanted to hold him, help with him, and be attached to him. She was the best big sister in the world. As Brooke had to nurse and give Jase more attention the last few weeks, it really gave me a chance to build a closer relationship with my baby girl. Putting her down to sleep every night was some of my favorite moments in my life. We would have conversation about her day, what she planned to do tomorrow, we sang songs, and cuddle up in my arms as she would fall asleep right underneath me every night. My favorite part about bedtime though was when we started it with our prayer. Each night I’d ask her if she’s ready to pray and who she wanted to pray for.. She was always ready to pray and each night named different people she wanted to pray for (Nana, Doonk, Mama Kris, Lala, Lexi, Aspen, Boogie, Cinco, John, Mom, Dada, Baby Brother Jase, her Babies “Patterson Twins”, and many more). She did this every night. And finally the last two nights she tried to pray on her own. In real time I was just proud that she was doing this by herself but now I know how close she was to the lord and pray that she’s with Jesus and we can one day be together again. Millie will always be with us and I will do all that I can to keep her memory lasting forever. Rest Baby Girl 🩷🙏 We are proud of you. Daddy loves you forever 🩷🩷

Caught at the border. Released. Caught again in Chicago. Released again. Arrest warrant issued. No one came. Three years later he put on a ski mask, hid behind a lighthouse, and shot an eighteen-year-old college girl in the back. She was looking at the skyline with her friends. She died on the concrete. This was preventable. Every. Single. Piece. Of this. Was preventable. March 19, 2026. Chicago. She's a freshman. Eighteen. Flew in from a small town in New York to chase a bigger life. Just after midnight, she walks out of her dorm with five friends. Laughing. Whispering. Someone heard the northern lights might be out. They want to see the skyline from the pier. Just kids. Just a Thursday night. The kind of stupid beautiful thing you do when you're eighteen and the world still feels safe. She walks ahead of the group. Reaches the lighthouse first. Behind it, in the dark, a man is waiting. Black clothes. Black ski mask. A handgun. She turns. Whispers to her friends — someone's back there. He steps out. Gun raised. They run. One shot. It hits her in the back. Her friends hear her drop. They come back. She's on the ground. Bleeding. Eighteen years old and dying on a concrete pier because she wanted to see the city lights. Now here's the timeline that should make your blood boil. May 2023. He crosses the border illegally. Border Patrol catches him. Has him in custody. Releases him into the country. June 2023. One month later. Chicago. Arrested for shoplifting. They have him. Again. Release him. Again. He's told to show up to court. He never does. A judge issues a warrant for his arrest. And nobody comes. Nobody knocks on his door. Nobody runs his name. Nobody picks him up. For three years, a man with an active arrest warrant lives freely in Chicago. One block from a college campus. One. Block. You want to know what makes this more than just a tragedy? The state of Illinois has a law. The TRUST Act. It tells local police: Don't help ICE. Don't hold anyone for them. Don't even tell them when you let someone go. A man gets caught at the border — released. Gets caught committing a crime — released. Skips court, warrant goes active — and the law says don't look for him. That is not a broken system. That is the system doing exactly what it was built to do. Read that sentence one more time. The system worked perfectly. And an eighteen-year-old girl is dead. Her parents flew in from New York. Stood on the pier where their daughter was killed. Threw flowers into Lake Michigan. Stop for a second and picture that. A mother. At the exact spot where her child bled out on a school night. Throwing flowers into black water because there's nothing left to do. Her mother told the cameras: "We've got to make changes." Her father: "There are definitely policies that contributed to this happening." They didn't scream. They didn't rage. They stood on cold concrete and asked this country, quietly, to do better. This country has not answered them. She was studying business. She was part of a Christian fellowship on campus. Her family said she made people feel seen. She made people feel valued. She was someone's entire world. And she was just trying to look at the skyline. She should be packing up her dorm room right now. She should be fighting with her roommate about who gets the mini fridge. She should be texting her mom about what to bring home for summer. She should be alive. She should be alive. She should be alive. A border that held him would have saved her. A jail that kept him would have saved her. A warrant someone bothered to serve would have saved her. A state that let its police do their damn jobs would have saved her. Four doors. Four chances. Every single one — left wide open. And a girl who wanted to see the skyline walked to the end of a pier and never came back. God bless every parent who drops their kid off at college, drives home with an empty back seat, and has no choice but to trust that this world will bring them back alive.

🚨 WATCH: Residents speak out as Rochester Public Schools votes to add the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha to the school calendar "Christmas break became winter break. Easter break became spring break ... yet this Muslim holiday is to be an official school holiday. This is an abomination," one speaker said. "If religious accommodation is important ... then equal consideration should be given to all faith communities," said another. The board approved adding Eid al-Adha to the calendar in a 4-1 vote.

You know all those stories about people who diagnose their maladies using AI, even when a doctor can't? Here's mine. A couple weeks ago, I developed terrible hip pain. My father had just died. I had to travel to MN. I did not have time to see a doctor. So I AI'd it. Bursitis. 🧵

I was just caught in a teen takeover at the Hyde Park Trader Joe’s and it’s STILL going on at this moment. Multiple fights and swarms in Hyde Park. This is unacceptable. This is dangerous. And Chicago residents should not have to wonder if a routine grocery trip will turn into chaos. Teen takeovers are not harmless. They put families, seniors, workers, shoppers, drivers, and young people themselves at risk. Mayor Brandon Johnson, Governor Pritzker, and local aldermen can no longer treat this like a public relations problem. This is a public safety crisis, and it requires real action. We need: ✅ A visible public safety plan for high-risk areas ✅ Coordination between CPD, state officials, businesses, and community leaders ✅ Consequences for organized lawlessness ✅ Support for parents and guardians ✅ Safe youth programming that does not excuse criminal behavior ✅ Protection for workers, shoppers, and residents Compassion without accountability is not leadership. Ignoring this will not make it go away. Chicago families deserve safety. Hyde Park deserves safety. Our young people deserve structure, discipline, opportunity, and accountability. I am calling on the mayor, the governor, and every elected official responsible for this city to act now. Enough excuses. Protect the people.

As a Muslim, there's something that genuinely bothers me. Millions of Muslims live in Christian majority countries, build mosques, preach Islam publicly, distribute Qur'ans, open halal businesses, and demand religious freedom, and rightly so. Some even call for aspects of Shariah to be accommodated in the societies they've moved to. Yet in some Muslim majority countries, Christians cannot openly preach the Gospel, build churches freely, or practice their faith without restrictions. Why? If we demand religious freedom for ourselves, we should be willing to grant it to others. Truth does not need censorship. If Islam is the truth, it has nothing to fear from a church, a Bible, or a Christian preacher. You can't demand tolerance and freedom for Muslims abroad while denying the same freedoms to others at home. The double standard needs to be called out.

Madrid witnessed something extraordinary today: Pope Leo XIV carrying our Eucharistic Lord through its streets on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. As thousands followed in prayer and adoration, the scene reflected the beauty of this ancient feast. But Madrid was not alone. Across the world, Catholics gathered to carry Jesus in the Eucharist through their streets, publicly proclaiming their faith in His Real Presence. Corpus Christi is more than a tradition—it is living faith made visible. Wherever the Eucharistic Lord was carried in procession today, in Madrid, throughout Spain, throughout the world, there beat the heart of the Church.

Sonoran Harris Hawks, Westchester County, NY, 1988. I flew “Peanut,” the little male on my shoulder, for 10 years before he was electrocuted on a power line. I hunted with the hen, “Kuucheen,” for 24 years. She laid eggs and produced chicks every summer, and today falconers all over the East Coast are still hunting with her progeny. #GetOutside #LiveRealLife

Not sure why they posted such personal info re their decision but he did not say they didn’t wanted to be inconvenienced. He identified the long list of health problems and the strong possibility of their child being institutionalized. His explanation was thoughtful and distressed. Sad situation for all.

YouTuber Jesse Ridgway and his wife abort their child after finding out the baby had Down syndrome. Ridgway cited that they chose to kill the baby after deciding that he and his wife didn't want to be inconvenienced with a child with Down syndrome. "Things have been pretty dark for a while for us, and we felt this was gonna be a nice little ray of sunshine, and it's not." Horrific and selfish. An estimated 67% - 85% of pregnancies in the U.S. with a Down syndrome diagnosis are aborted. This is evil. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
