@All_Lee24 like even if its good enough for people to latch onto. u just couldnt possibly fit the entire story in ~ 2.5 hrs, SURELY there cant be a lot to really "get wrong"?? unlike a lengthy tv series like GOT which has plenty of time to focus on each character & screw all the details up

@All_Lee24 I highly doubt the movie will overshadow the game like that. tv series maybe but not movie. cant think of an example where that ever happened with a videogame movie (?) i mean games get shitty film adaptations all the time and nobody takes those as gospel

Yeah I want people to understand that my fear for the Elden Ring movie comes from my trauma as an ASOIAF book enjoyer 😭 like Game of Thrones is the general perception of these characters I love and they’re completely alien to me in their most well-known form

If it's just real shitty then it's whatever. I think worse is when something is decent/enjoyable by a good portion of people but then mischaracterizes your fave. And then that becomes face of said thing.

I’m pretty excited for the Elden Ring movie tbh. I’ve never been a believer in the whole “if it’s bad, it’ll ruin the IP!” thing. It’ll just be a bad movie. And the game will still be beloved and played on repeat until the end of time

Alex Garland was the one who originally pitched the idea for a live-action ‘ELDEN RING’ film to FromSoftware, even flying to Japan to present it directly to Hidetaka Miyazaki. He developed a sprawling 160-page script, alongside an additional 40 pages of visual material, entirely on spec.
Cailee Spaeny is rumored to take on the film’s female lead, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
Filming begins next week.

Looks like the idea was you face Malenia as Miquella's intermediary protector. He blesses her for phase 2. Then after both are defeated, we get a vision of how it all started, plus Miquella pleading we carry on his wish.
Same idea as the DLC post-Consort Radahn fight.
