It’s important to note that Waymo is being compared against the average driver, while professional drivers are also way safer than the average driver. Waymos mostly replace professional drivers, and so the actual public health effects of replacing all professional drivers with Waymo’s is unknown but almost certainly much smaller or they could even conceivable worse. They need to test against Uber data.

Waymo is so good at saving lives that if it were a new drug in trial, it would hit the bar for being unblinded and made immediately available to the control group for ethical reasons. @MorePerfectUS would prefer to keep killing pedestrians.

It's funny because catholics claim humans have performed miracles and they call them saints and pray to them. I am not following this outrage logic.

And now that I think about it, when did we start calling having control over the devices you bought “jailbreaking”? I guess it’s a bit more apt to free devices from the arbitrary jails Big Tech puts them in, but still: It’d be nice to stop using words with such negative connotation to describe things a normal computer can just do.
